He's called Vieira and that's the entire reason Arsenal have signed him

I’ve been following him for over two hours and I can safely say that people on Reddit say that he’s a very talented but very raw attacking midfielder who is excellent on the ball but needs to improve his positional awareness.

Is he going to replace xhaka or pepe or smith rowe or what? A little confusing to me if he's not able to sit a little deeper in the middle or play on the wings

Seems like he’s best in Odegaard’s position and can also play deeper or as a false 9.

Chiunque può essere Luther Blissett, semplicemente adottando il nome Luther Blissett

surprised at Forest looking to bring in Henderson, as I was under the impression that Brice Samba was one of their key players, based on the 3 (three) games of Championship-level football I watched last season (and one of which was Scotland vs Ukraine)

I'd expect him to be first-choice for England within the next few years, so it'd almost certainly be an upgrade, but still seems like kind of an odd play

They are actually putting sensible people like Dan Ashworth in charge, unfortunately. Still room for a hilariously overpriced flop though I imagine,

The fee numbers are disappointing, but given how there wasn't a bidding war and how Mane only had one year left on his deal and wanted to go, I guess there wasn't much bargaining room.

I can't tell. He had one year left on his deal, he wasn't going to re-sign, and he and a lot of people in his circle were making a ton of noises in public about moving on. No other club was in for him.

I would have been tempted to just let him ride out his contract and let him go on a free, but with Salah looking like he's going to do the same thing, I can see why the club decided to just get what money they could.

This might be karmic payback for how Liverpool got Thiago at a discount too.

Anyway... I think we're going to see even more Bosmans than we used to and that is going to drive fees down a bit. Barca showing how big fees can go out of control and drive a club close to financial ruin has changed the market a lot.

Like Eric Cantonese said, €40 mil is more than nothing, and it seems like that was the alternative next year. Could be a lot worse, could be paying people to go like Arsenal.

Plus instead of, say, €40 mil going as a transfer fee and €1 mil or whatever yearly as wage, the club can pay less directly to the player as a signing fee and afford more for wages too. Seems like a benefit to everyone except the team they leave.

i sincerely think bayern are going to be very happy with mane. he's excellent and if he can carry his last 6 months of form going forward he's easily one of the best players in the world. i had a friend that support bayern munich tell me he'd get frustrated from time to time with lewa's lack of involvement in some matches and you really wont see that with mane, even when he's off form he still puts in outrageous effort

Howe is on record somewhere saying there's no chance they pull in someone on 200+k/w or whatever because of the disruption it would bring to the dressing room etc. They're going about things in a depressingly rational way.

He's not good enough for the #14 shirt. Like if Jesus is signed then Nketiah should and will be a bench player. I don't really get giving him a new contract tbh. He's not ready to lead the line for a Champions League chasing club and the best option would have been to send him to a lower half of the table team with an option to buy him back if he becomes a player that can bang in 20-25 goals a season.

Also surely he wants to be the main guy at arsenal but must see that we're chasing players right now to fill that role. If he's happy to just start Europa League games then ok sure. But for all his talk about wanting to be a starter I think ultimately he's gone for the money.

Even with Jesus I imagine Nketiah getting a good number of games. He had a decent run of form at the end of the season. And this is as much about using him as selling him — he’s a young English striker with PL experience and would go for a good chunk of change.

The alternative was to pay, what, £40m for some other hot prospect. This was the right decision.
