Just scored this '04 crown vic - my friend was going to junk it - but I saved it from the scrapper - no rust, has a brand new AC system and a complete interior from a grand marquis in good shape - still working out some BS with the title.

Plans are new bumpers, macco paint job, dual exhaust

Bonus shots of my miata:

Looks absolutely bonkers next to this conti in my garage, im not even parked all the way to his rear bumper

So I recently ordered a 383 stroker kit from speedway motors. Its externally balanced so it had to go to their machine shop to get balanced. I came home to find the box with the crank standing on end and the box with the pistons, rods, rings, and bearings balanced on top of it. I grabbed the box with the crank only to notice that it had beat its way out of its packaging. After opening it up I found it was only packaged with two pieces of styrofoam and two cardboard boxes. I'm extremely tempted to send this back and get them to ship me one that is packaged correctly.

Send that poo poo right back. Don't waste your time even looking it over.

We had a similar instance of negligence with Bresciani Racing a decade or so ago (they've since split ways, one brother is complete scum and the other still pumps out good work). Opened a crate with a motor we got built and a 10cent piece fell out of the turbo. No way in hell were we going to mount and fire it up for fear of what else was fucky.

That looks insane in the best way. Good luck not dying.

I finally got the plates for my car so I can actually drive it. It's weird knowing that the car has turbos, being able to hear them, but having absolutely no lag. Also the RPM lights on the top of the steering wheel are actually really nice to know when to shift without having to take your eyes off the road (besides the sound).

Is this like a swingarm liter bike with the two seat leather turned into a racer 1seater with a seat delete? That seems like an extremely long, uh, snowpaddler

It is pretty long; the backcountry / deep snow sleds like this have a rather longer tracks than the ones made for maintained trails.

Hell yeah can’t drive through the Midwest without a Culver’s stop.

Preliminary trip report - getting 28mpg, devouring highway miles, lots of fun noises and some of the most comfortable seats this side of a private jet (I imagine).

The boy likes driving it too

Automotive Sanity. Having had Miata and FXT, I fully understand keeping them as long-term everything. Toyota minivan for moving people and things is a pro addition.

So I’ve heard. This one has been meticulously cared for and everything big and important replaced so I’m hoping for a slight reprieve.

It’s a car I’ve wanted to own since they were new, and a goon had a nice one so why not give it a shot? I’m selling my Countryman S to make room/refill my bank account from this purchase and even though this will be my semi-daily driver, I do have backup cars I can use.

Here’s the weird part. Normally when I buy a car I have all kinds of instant buyer’s remorse and then it tapers, or tons of anxiety before I go get it. This one has had an entire month delay between making the deal and picking it up and I haven’t had a single moment of worry in that time.

It drove 700 miles home without a hiccup, averaging 28mpg the entire time. I took the first 500 miles and my son did the last 200 (learner’s permit so no driving out of state). I have a BAD hip and I’ve never felt as fresh after a road trip in any car.
