They just wanted to make their own star wars clone, but they needed to attach it to a successful IP or Disney wouldn't greenlight it, this isn't complicated

I support them in their endeavor and thing more people should do similar things. Lets have a new rollicking adventure film like the old Indiana Jones movies, a tribute to the two fisted movie serials of the 30s. Also the dashing lead is named Lightning McQueen and theres a card at the beginning that says despite being just a regular guy played by uhh idk chris hemsworth, he's actually the car from cars.

Also I had forgotten it ended that long ago. I could have sworn it was running in 2020.

Recently watched The Fate of the Furious. I'd probably be completely up to date on this series if I didn't keep getting high and forgetting which ones I had or hadn't watched. Ended up watching F7 a second time by accident a couple months ago and it was just as dumb the second time. Still don't love that they're working for Kurt Russell's shady black ops dude, but this one at least didn't have multiple plot beats so dumb that I rolled my eyes at them even while stoned enough to lose my place in the series, where F7 had like six of them. It was heavy on movie-style "I'M IN" computer hacking, but that's par for the course. Charlize Theron with blonde dreads was an interesting choice as villain but she pulled it off. Given that it was established that Charlize Theron could remote-hack any self-driving car, and that the tank could be driven remotely, I was 100% expecting the tank to get hacked out from under them, but for some reason this didn't happen??? Chekov rolling in his grave RN Anyway this movie hit the dumb-but-not-TOO-dumb sweet spot where I could get high and watch it and have a good time. Would recommend, 7/10. Not socialist; not sci-fi despite featuring multiple impossible technologies because it doesn't speculate on the social effects of any of them.
