Don't worry, the wall between Church and State will still work just fine to keep the State out of the Church's exciting new business venture.

The implications are obviously bad, but it looks like that Supreme Court ruling has to do with areas where there are no public schools and the state was giving money to parents to send their kids somewhere. So it's not quite as cut and dry as it initially looks.

Yeah. This.

Like, I get that most ballistic shields are IIIA and won't stop rifle rounds. But 1) it'll slow rounds down, and 2) its your loving job and training to rush towards the gunfire no matter the risk to personal injury and if you're not willing to run towards gunfire and kill an active shooter then turn in your badge and find another job.

It's loving simple. Take two officers with shields, have one officer with a halligan go in between the two shields and try the door. If the door's unlocked, back off momentarily and stack up with flashbangs ready and make entry.

If the door's locked, get the halligan and bring up a guy with an axe or sledgehammer and bash that poo poo in there. There HAD to have been a mechanical and or explosive breaching specialist there within 30 minutes. loving do your goddamn job. I dont give a gently caress if its a metal door and a bunch of officers die trying to open it without success. That's the loving least they should've done. I would've been scared out of my loving mind too. But it's what you do when you're scared that matters. Those officers failed.

Also there was almost assuredly a Level IV rifle rated ballistic shield there within 15-20 minutes. loving every agency in a wide rear end radius was there, even feds. Even IF they waited for that to go in, it'd still be dereliction of duty, but at least it wouldn't have been 70 minutes. But they waited 70 loving minutes like goddamn cowards.

Could be wrong, but a lot of hard shields are rated for rifles rounds. They make one that is a giant ESAPI plate; during the Paris Attacks near ten years ago, their body bunker took an entire AK mag. That is 10 year old tech; I have no doubts that shield was rated for rifle rounds.

Beyond that, gently caress you. That's why we pay you. You took the job knowing this was a possibility. Don't strap up if you aren't willing to ride.

Not exactly. They have to meet whatever standards the government requires of secular private schools, but that is typically merely an accreditation level.

What this does is that any state that has voucher programs or charter schools, religious schools can now take 100% of the money that was previously going to those other schools. In places like Jefferson County, FL (one of if no the blackest county in the state) where they have already gotten rid of public school, the failing charter school will be replaced by a garbage church school.

That's still giving the church money to replace a state function

If it was reasonable it wouldn’t be a 6-3 it definitely a move to help abolish public education which has been the hot new thing on the right waiting in case the trans hate stuff doesn’t pan out for them

Which I agree with and this is obviously going to lead to exactly what they've been trying to do for decades with private religious schools.

Exactly.

At the very least, all those cops need to be fired and barred from working as a cop, and that Independent School District chief needs to get life in prison.

But we live in a hellworld timeline so nothing is gonna happen, maybe the chief will be fired or resign. We'll be lucky if we get that.

That brings up a good point, it’s a return to tradition for the right, private segregated schools were the big cultural fight for years immediately after the civil rights victories in the 60s.

Plus, the CoC isn't going to have to look my kids in the eye. I'd rather die doing the right thing than live forever knowing that I failed to act.

Yes, but you see, he's relatable to the common man because the common man would also do hella crimes and be batshit crazy if they were rich. :eng101:

And on the other side of the aisle, all the "blue" billionaires who were never interested in being *directly* involved in politics before 2016 because of things like the Emoluments Clause - now realizing that so long as their party also holds the majority, they can just...ignore that. Someone way more competent than Trump could've left the White House the world's first trillionaire, so insanely rich that they wouldn't *need* the presidency anymore since they could just *buy* all the government representation they ever needed and use it to enrich and empower themselves further.
