A new study conducted by the University of Toronto suggests that contrary to popular belief, picking at one's scabs may actually be beneficial to one's health: "We've been told since our childhood that picking at scabs was bad, but ours was the first study to actually look at it" said Dr. Fillmore of the U of T Department of Health & Wellness. "What our study seems to show is that you've gotta get that dead skin off there somehow to let the new skin grow. It's also very fun to do - it releases serotonin into your brain which promotes good mental health."
Established thought on the topic included concerns about scarring and possible infection of a re-opened wound. "That's all fake, don't worry about that" said Dr. Fillmore. "When you think about it, science has for the longest time not been able to explain why humans evolved finger nails, when the answer was right in front of us."

if picking scabs was bad why would everyone do it? clearly it has evolutionary value as the gene for not picking scabs was eliminated before recorded history began.

I just learned finger nails are there to provide structural stability when pinching and grabbing.
Imagine the ends of your fingers were all soft and wobbly it would be a nightmare.

If you pick only the middle of the scab, it will bleed and generate a scab for the scab. Do this repeatedly to grow an enormous tower of scab. And after some time, this scab will peel and reveal a fresh new limb.

I'm currently working on transforming as much of my body to scab as possible after finding out about the health benefits of picking scabs.

It was tough to find a doctor willing to greenlight the procedure of continually scraping half of my skin off every time it grew back but at this rate I'm going to live forever

This is how volcanoes work. Hawaii is basically a bunch of well developed planet scabs. No one says "You better stop that Earth it's going to scar"
