Worst part was waffling over Pfizer 3 shot which is a 3 month series vs the 2 shot Moderna. Chose Pfizer since I read the trial ended up needing the 3rd to get a sufficient response in 2-5 but was mostly effective as a 2 shot in under 2s, and our youngest is only 15mo, so she'll have some measure of protection after the 2nd and then hers a "booster" later.

Split the difference. Falita sandwito.

Kiddo is doing okay so far today despite having lost 5 hours of sleep last night. We started her on her new brain meds yesterday morning and while her ability to focus seemed fine, she just could not fall asleep even after it seemed like the medications desired effect had worn off.

She also kept saying she thought she saw bugs, and heard voices under her pillow at one point which given the list of side effects in this is uh, not a good sign. :stare: Then again she's been sleep deprived for a bit and has been having tummy issues even before we started the new stuff, so it's possible she was gonna have trouble regardless.

This is the third medication we've had her on. Last one seemed to be working fine but we wanted to try something with a long release so we wouldn't have to keep re-upping throughout the day. Hoping this was just one bad night because we're already tired of the whole process of looking over medications.

I laugh reading this stuff because a girl I was interested in at college in 1994 was telling me about this amazing book, so I picked it up and made it 50 pages in before quitting because it seemed like the worst kind of 70s scifi- (arbitrary class of people) become slaves/enemy of the state to a cartoonish degree. My opinion on the book doomed my (probably slim already) chances.

She’s now an English Lit professor. I can only imagine she loves the show

My wife has watched most if not all of Handmaid's Tale, but she has an incredible ability to tune out all metaphor and social commentary from TV and movies so to her it's a just a string of events involving the same group of people. Honestly it's probably a healthy mindset to have for a show like that.

More broadly, I wonder if it's weird being an actor shooting a scene where you are torturing / being tortured by someone. Does it become awkward between takes, or when watching the final cut? There was that season of GoT where Theon's entire plot was to get the poo poo kicked out of him by Ramsey, but apparently those two actors are homies IRL. How does that work?

I'm the opposite of an actor but I'd imagine it helps a bit that they're not actually being tortured and just doing work together. If you do it well I'd think you'd be like drat, we nailed that really difficult scene, and maybe get to be closer friends. Possibly?

A while back there was a discussion of heart rate and cardio, but I can't seem to find it or the name of this thing I'm going to describe...

When you start cardio, your heart rate goes up because of course it does. For me for example I can run and have it hang out around 130. At some point though, with no change in intensity or incline or anything, it'll spike to 160-170 and just hang out there until my exercise is done.

Does anyone know what this is called? I'm trying to see if it's related to something we're talking about in class.

I seem to recall reading somewhere, Ramsey's actor (forgot his name), or maybe Joffrey's actor saying that when you play the bad guy on screen, you pretty much have to be the nicest guy on set.

Lactate inflection point or lactic acid threshold. Can’t remember which one it is.

It’s basically the switch from anaerobic to aerobic exercise.

Cardiac drift

I'm not sure that's it - that's just what I'd consider the normal progression while exercising. What I'm thinking is this:

Where you can see HR spike after a while, with no change in elevation, cadence, and a drop in pace. Unless cardiac drift IS the term and it's just a normal progression of it based on my being out of shape, that the same mechanism is at play, just more dramatically.

Anyway, thanks - that does give me something to dig into!

Baz Luhrman directing the Elvis biopic is the only thing that makes it interesting.

What's the point of an Elvis biopic that isn't a weird spectacle? He was a weird spectacle for the times. It's like how they say "cocksucker" all the time in Deadwood, when really people would say "geez willickors" but "geez willickors" was as shocking as "cocksucker" in 1875.
