There was an old reality game show called Solitary, where the premise is that the contestants are basically tortured and they have to see how long they can endure each challenge without being able to see how each other contestant is doing. . Stuff like lying on a bed of nails, or holding hot sauces in their mouth, or being woken up every few minutes and forced to recite an increasingly longer series of random numbers, fun stuff like that. One of the challenges was to sit in a cramped box and not leave until you think three hours has passed. One guy said his strategy was to watch the movie Titanic in his head, since it was about three hours long. Sadly, he left the box early because he forgot to about the credits. Show's great (very bad), check it out.

Yuji Naka used to be like, head of Sonic Team, and just confirmed that yes, they did in fact "borrow" music from MJ. Edit: on looking into it, the rumor may be that Michael Jackson himself was actually involved in creating the music, not just Sega yoink-ing it? Either way, sounds like it was just officially confirmed. Read After Burning has a new favorite as of 18:06 on Jun 23, 2022 |

Leon Sumbitches posted:What? There were a few tracks in Sonic 3's music that got changed mysteriously whenever it was ported or rereleased. They had some distinctive audio cues in them. The fanbase caught onto this and did some digging. They found both that Sega at the time had some connections to some people who worked for Michael Jackson's record label and that several of these tracks had musical similarities to some MJ songs. "Michael Jackson worked on Sonic 3" has been one of those bits of fan lore that people discussed and debated for years and years. It seems like a ridiculously high-profile thing to keep totally secret, and yet any time evidence about it came up it seemed to point that way. Today, the director of Sonic 3 just casually mentions they were Michael Jackson's songs in a tweet. No one is surprised, it just seems like one of those things everyone involved intended to take to their graves.

The heavily compressed "GO" sample used in Launch Base Zone is the same one that's used in Fatboy Slim's remix of "Renegade Master", which is originally from "Peter Piper" by Run DMC.
