Lots of new farmland thawing out from permafrost in the north too, ripe for exploitation for the climate refugees flooding north. I'm sure someone else already mentioned this, but thawed out bogs and rocky shield formations aren't farmland. The thawed permafrost is pretty much useless.

The main thing the thawing permafrost seems to be doing is catching fire. Which is a good thing because that might kill the ancient viruses.

But it's still billions of very real people whose lives will get ruined or end because of this. Either you deal with accepting you have no idea what's going to happen and how much impact your actions have, or you end up being that useless piece of poo poo who's too demoralized to do anything but then explains to everyone else it's because they're smarter and better and everyone else is wasting their time.

The entire idea of this resulting in human extinction is literally impossible to falsify or prove. We have little evidence any of these effects result in human extinction - plenty of evidence they result in reduced lifespans and loss of arable land, but very little towards the extinction angle. To accept that as a truth you keep bringing up like it's infallible church dogma with is delusional and there's no nice way to put that. And I don't see any gain to trying to nicely convince someone they're believing in hosed-up nonsense, they won't make good allies.

China switching over to a limited trade sphere, and surviving in autarky even if that fails, seems to me an entirely possible to achieve goal for them within 10-20 years China fo sho has the technological and ideological infrastructure to switch to some form of direct allocation, but it'll be a helluva task. Autarky/central planning is deffo the way of the future. I've said it before and I'll stick to it - DPRK is the safest place to be in the entire world right now. The West is just turbofucked. Liberalism is a civilizational brain tumour. We'll probably see a lot of fashy corporate monopoly towns in lieu of any kind of public socialism, but even then the existing infrastructural base is a train wreck. 50/50 odds on Amerika disintegrating b4 the otherwise inevitable annexation of Kanada. I do hope I get to live to see that loving 🍁 wiped off the map.
