Even then, when it's poo poo any 2nd grader knows, she has those long, very obvious pauses where she's checking her little cards, sometimes pausing after the first name to double check the last name because she seems incapable of remembering a single simple thing for 1.3 seconds.

A week or so ago there was a category that gave clues to a famous historical figure, and the answer was the actor who played them in a movie. The first four clues were all guessed correctly the first time and she would always confirm it with "Yes, X playing Y". But then for the last clue one contestant guessed the historical figure and got it wrong, and after the next contestant correctly guessed the actor, Mayim just said "correct" and moved on without explaining why the first person was wrong or even just the connection like the previous four times.

She straight up interrupted a player yesterday just to tell her she was in the lead. How is she getting actively worse at this.

Tonight a contestant said authtentification in the five-syllable category. That's one syllable too many, but not a word from Mayim when the next guy got it at authentication.

Also wondering how the most difficult clue in the baseball category was quite easier than the easiest clue - which was baseball related - in the parks category.

The local Jeopardy Saturday replay was the episode where someone correctly guessed Auburn, but that wasn't enough for Mayim and he had to clarify Auburn Univesity. The next clue saw someone correctly guess Purdue, but he didn't have to put University after that.

I still can't hazard a thought as to why Mayim was so confused by Auburn.

Was also when Jay the contestant was a dead ringer for a skinny Jay Leno.

There's always Only Connect. The questions are tough as poo poo and the host is usually joking about being half in the bag ("we have our champions! i'm off to drink champagne 'till the wee hours of the morning... just because it's the championship that's no reason for me to change my routine.")

I'm pretty sure in the Jeopardy round they'll accept the answer and give you a warning. I don't remember the host ever giving a verbal prompt in Double Jeopardy but yeah I've always seen the contestants being given the full time to self correct

That's the original definition of a meme: a self-replicating method for encapsulating and transmitting cultural information from one generation to another or one group to another. The informational analogue of genetic code; a memetic-gene.

It doesn't have a lot to do with the way the word is commonly used today.

If you google the definition of meme you will see that phrasing a lot. Mostly because that's what a meme is.

Fun fact for the class: Hitler thought "kilroy was here" was evidence that a high-level spy visited and tagged a wall or whatever.

It comes from the Selfish Gene and Dawkins defined it as a "unit of cultural transmission or imitation".

drat, shouldn't have hedged and taken that out of my post, I was like 90% sure it was from that book but I was too lazy to go upstairs and check last night.

If there's anything this season of Jeopardy has been teaching me it's to go with my first instincts on answers.
