I’ve got 3 backpacking trips planned this summer! Though I’ve also slimmed my gear to accommodate being older, fatter, and with worse knees than I used to have, the hammock kit absolutely rules and actually treats my back better than my real bed, let alone a sleeping pad or cot, plus at less than half the weight than a tent and bag.

I won't look down on folks that car camp as I do it often myself, but since I grew up in the Boy Scouts I do appreciate the chance to go backpacking out in the backcountry. IMO having to hump my stuff around is worth getting away from others. When I was out in Sisters back in 2020 I was able to see the Neowise Comet on its last day of being visible in the night sky. I have a couple backpacking trips planned this upcoming July. One should be in central Oregon & the other may be along the Oregon/Washington coast.

Any of the medical professionals in here have a few minutes to discuss a substance abuse situation? I've got a loved one undergoing inpatient detox and with the level of care being offered (and the cost) it seems like the far better choice was to simply go to urgent care for a couple hours, get fluids and IV drugs pushed, and walk out with a couple short-term oral meds. Posted about it the other day but I just finished The Bear on Hulu and it was pretty good. Except for the end when they're struggling a little, but seeming to come together as a team and things are getting to a good place then surprise they find like a million dollars, shut down The Beef, The End. Just seemed to really kill any momentum they had.
