You know, I thought the use of plastic in organic farming had to be an American thing. So I checked out the regulations wrt plastics here in Denmark, and it looks like it's only illegal to put the plastic underground. Hadn't paid it any more mind, until I went to the local organic farm to pick strawberries with my son, only to find the ground covered in plastic.

It turns out the magic ring "Heart" was loving useless, but Gaia didn't have a ring for Guillotines so the planeteers just had to make do.

Also, the Hitler stand-in they had in one episode made Captain Planet weak because his hatred was so pure, can you believe that poo poo? A superhero that's weak against hatred, wow I can't see that ever being a problem in that line of work.

Wow. Can't believe the doomer wreckers in the climate thread would subvert and exploit a loving children's cartoon to indoctrinate people with their nihilistic, suicidal pessimism. Disgusting. I am very smart.

Stereotype posted:i like the teflon plumbers tape that everyone uses in the connections for their drinking water that isn't actually needed Most people seem to think it's for sealing joints. I used to use it a lot at my old job a lot since the micro- and nanometer sized slurry particles we worked with would sieze up even PFA joints, but knowing the other hazardous stuff running through those pipes made me super aware of how it is not a sealant. Anyway I always wondered if it was coated in powder or if it just sloughed off because PTFE has garbage mechanical properties. Trying to find the answer just now and learned you can buy straight 2-3 μm powder on amazon (perfect for bike chains!) Tempora Mutantur posted:don't worry I'm sure blue states will create their own very strong local regulatory bodies, perhaps almost as effective as local eatery health inspections This is sort of how it worked already, like the regulatory agency in Seattle and Tacoma is the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. I think the EPA devolves authority basically anywhere a local agency exists to take it, which is why I'd guess the answer to Wolfsheim posted:serious q was the EPA meaningfully doing anything before now other than charging tiny fines to companies that permanently destroy lakes or w/e is sure on a local level (e.g. old wood stove replacement campaigns in Tacoma vastly improving the air quality) and lol no on anything else

If you live near that Danish town that got famous last year for driving a front end loader into the sea to dump beach plastic they might have switched to using it for terrestrial crop mulch. The added salt would be great for asparagus.

so i had npr on this morning and they had a psa about noise pollution in oceans, how various animals use sound in their lives and how we've polluted the ocean so much it's the equivalent of living with a rave pumping all day long. it concluded by saying this is a matter of personal responsibility and everyone should whisper while in the ocean.
