The staff of this show seems split RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE about whether or not this woman is a micromanaging psychopathic poo poo talker or a flexible and fun boss who maintains a chill and sensible work environment.

At least one of the people going around tuned out not to work at Spindlehorse at all.

So yeah I dunno what's going on. The allegations could very well be true, but there's also a lot of people coming out refuting them. I'll say, the stuff about her apparently having a meeting to make fun of other shows sounds a bit too wild

Viv herself seems to be avoiding responding to it, and is actively blocking people @ing her about it. But also I wouldn't blame her for doing that either way

I'm not going to just disbelieve any allegations, but for as long as I've been on the internet there has been a cohort of people who come out of the woodwork whenever her name is mentioned to say that Viv is a terrible person for reasons that everyone apparently knows (but never get said), and then after some digging it turned out that it was because she copied or traced some stuff as a student (and apparently later apologised), but some people decided to make it a core part of their personality to decry her as Satan incarnate until their dying breath for reasons known only to them, literal decades after the fact at this point.

Which doesn't make these allegations untrue of course, but you can go back through Twitter for literal years and find an absolute hardcore of weird creeps who made Hating Vivienne Madrano™ their sole reason for living.

See, this is why I'm always very reluctant to hop on the bandwagon when somebody is made Twitter's villain of the week. There's just too much we don't know and I don't trust the internet's instincts on these matters in the slightest.

(Not saying the charges are false either just to be clear. I'm saying we don't know and I'm reluctant to make somebody's online life hell without drat good cause.)

The crappy thing is the one who started the tweet didnt wanna cause drama/cancel but twitter being twitter uses it as platform to air out their personal grief/slight against her. I have no doubt some people had bad experiences working for Viv/studio but its definitely being a little drowned out by the mob.

There's story potential in the Romulan/Vulcan split. Perhaps the ones that chose to go under the raptor's wings or whatever were a non telepathic underclass that revolted against the psychically awakened privileged class. It's known that the Vulcans aren't perfect, and it would give more nuance to the split beyond "we're going to go and be space KGB".

Yeah I mean, it can be both. I mean, I don't work in animation, but I do work a normal 9-5 office job and I know that it's only natural that people (like bosses) just like some employees more than others for all kinds of reasons. I can easily believe that one lady can treat some people like poo poo and others well.

When it comes to twitter mobs this is usually the best idea. Unfortunately people tend to see it as, "you blocked them therefore what they're saying is true and they win".

Ooof, yeah, regardless of the situation taking someone else's story and sharing it in a context of your choosing without their consent is a bad thing to do.

That's not your life, those aren't your experiences, if they wanted to share those experiences in that way on that platform they would have done so.

And yes I know this happens all the time on the internet, but just because it happens all the time that doesn't make it good.

Well I’m happy for your sakes this turned out to be a lot of sound & fury signifying nothing, I know you folks really like your horny demon anime and it’d be a shame if this Viv woman lost her awesome team due to rumor mill horseshit. It’s gotta feel great when half a dozen animators come out of the woodwork to say that you’re sweet and kind and understanding and patient, especially in this industry.

The lo-fi beats to study to bit from this week's Birdgirl was fun. Although I do have to wonder if episodes 2 and 3 were aired out of order because the leadership stick was introduced in episode 3 but they also had it in 2.

Q-Force was pretty solid, but most of the character beats/traits that really elevated it were actively contraindicated by the trailer, like the guy named Twink actually being a top. Between that and a shaky core concept ("we're here, we're queer, we're totally safe for consumption because we're all devout government agents"), I'm not surprised it's gone. I am a little sad though.

Thing that probably didn't help the show was that absolutely awful trailer they put out for it.

Almost definitely. All the cast/staff tweets saying "no it's not like that it's actually good!" couldn't help it in most peoples' eyes since comments like that usually ring hollow in a "well of course they'd say that, it's their jobs" sense.

I imagine after the first time or two he pulled it off in Regular Show it became easier each time, especially after how well received it's usage of David Bowie's "Heroes" in the finale was(probably helped unfortunately by the accident of fate of that episode premiering mere weeks after Bowie passing away)

Mike Hollingsworth of Bojack, Tuca & Bertie and Inside Job has made a really weird mash up, "Golden Girls 3033" where he took original dialogue from an episode of Golden Girls and animated it as if the titular characters have become immortal and now live in the future.
