Barely even registers as news now. I tell you what though it definitely has made me reconsider my road trip to visit some friends in different parts of the states this summer. my city has a no fireworks ordnance. my neighborhood is, of course, full of people setting off fireworks that are illegal in the state, not just in violation of ordnance. my neighbors are cheering every boom and have sang the national anthem and 'proud to be an american' let's go brandon indeed

The town cancelled the fireworks show here because of the drought, but that's not going to stop idiots from starting fires because they want pretty colors and boom booms. However, this area isn't exactly known for its citizens having any wealth so it's been little stuff that peters out quick because fireworks are expensive.

Now, I know that the 1812 Overture gets slotted into 4th of July events all over the country because it's a big, bombastic piece with cannons in it that go with fireworks shows. But I have this sneaking suspicion that if you asked people what they know about the music, they'd say it was about the War of 1812, and I just can't take one more thing like that.
