This is sort of random, but does any remember the rapper J-Sinzz? He had that track "U Mad?" that was popular in like 2008? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JQf7Rlz7XQ&t=16s It's just weird because I can't really find anything on him or even find the video anymore which used to be on youtube. There was a period of a few years when I was pretty into them. I also saw them live a couple times and thought they put on a pretty dope show. But I haven't listened to them in years now and I'm ashamed I ever did. I'm glad they aren't getting booked anymore. gently caress them.

I enjoyed their first album, even if it was a sign of the times that everything around 2010 was peak hipster irony and watching the video for Enter the Ninja I was very confused as to whether I was supposed to like it genuinely or not. They did put on a good show around that time. But just about everything they've put out since then has missed hard, and as soon as all the grooming stuff came to light I was very much not surprised. All the Zef poo poo got old very quickly too, like "look at us we're South African, we've been apartheid-free for 30 years and we're cool now" seemed very transparent and problematic on its own, like I'm not sure their whole renaissance around Invictus and Neil Blomkamp's popularity and Die Antwoord and that murderer with no legs wasn't some concentrated effort on the part of the government to rebrand their image. gently caress that country.

always thought 30 from bside was a talented rapper but this track has kind of blown me away and i wouldn't often say this for drill rap but it's the lyrics i'm finding elevate it. dude uses simple words and wordplay to create some of the most powerful imagery i've heard in a while. i thought i'd heard every way a rapper could describe cooking crack until this fun bar b gang's cut from a different cloth i make crack with magic in a witch's pot and this poo poo is a straight up reality for a lot of these dudes but this bar succeeded in making me profoundly sad not new to jail i've been there before spent most of my teens in prison and court anyway. good poo poo. hope he stays out of jail and stays consistent with music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc8MMBUp3aA
