You can see his hand shaking as he struggles to hold the Dragon Slayer back, and just about make out that it's not actually touching Griffith at all.

I guess reading it would help yeap. Definitely there's some berserk level madness coming. Guts is gonna go on a rampage. Griffith is just being a big loving jerk, Hey look at me reliving the snowy departure, it's when you stole everything from me so I'm going to steal everything from you. I also imagine that Danan feels the apostles coming, because other than rescuing/kidnapping the princess when the apostles we're just a diversion, he's never really done anything without his full entourage. Besides there's magic on that there island, so it all has to go the way of Flora's house.

So if I'm getting this right, before the Eclipse the world leakage was almost only when humans beckoned to become apostles, but after that the weaker spirits came through, especially in persuit of the branded. Griffith was also now physically stuck on the other side unless summoned. Then when Griffith is reborn via egg & fetus the worlds come even closer and when he knocks down the emperor it's a full merge with even the rest of the God Hand moving about as they please? Also Berserk and the Band of the Hawk goes harder than I thought it would. It's no Drakengard but I'm sure some Warriors fan was shocked.

Whichever group is doing those speed scanlations isn't butchering the translation, which is a nice change of pace after like 20 years of non-Evil Genius clowns doing their best to ruin Berserk from time to time. To toot my own horn for a bit the Evil Genius release still has better visual quality and typesetting!

Bleh I'm so used to the original anime voices that the dubs always sound wrong. Still you reminded me of https://youtu.be/QTkfw5vMJZE (anyone have an earlier/older link, is that all of them). I guess the magnum opus is Griffith singing "I'm just a girl who can't say no" around 2:30.

Interesting. "Best fight". My first thought was, "Gee wouldn't it be crazy to do 60min just at the tree in the snow, hyperfocused on the individual muscles, the physics of the sword breaking" (I mean dramatic focus, not a documentary), "but I guess people wouldn't get it so it would probably be a bunch of flashbacks as motivation". Then I realized, no, there's no contest. 100 Man from 1994 still feels better than the movies, but even the manga cuts out with more than half of them remaining. With all the conversation, especially talk back from the troops, it probably took over 45min, and it feels like most of the night from the story. Yes, give me a 1.5hr movie of just the 100 man battle.  "Sword porn"

Reminds me of playing Yakuza with a buddy. Kiryu clears out a whole building, steps outside, and immediately gets accosted by three dudes in hoodies. That's more of a gameplay and story segregation thing. If it were otherwise by the third game there'd be posters all over Kamurocho with Kiryu's on them cautoning people not to challenge him to a fight.
