I feel like the show just screeches to a halt whenever Maeve and Caleb aren't on screen. Right now I'm also guessing that the Bernard and Stubbs stuff is further into the future and that mystery woman is Caleb's kid all grown up. Also that Caleb will be able to fight off the mind-controlling flies because when Maeve saved him, she did something like implant him with host material or something. So he's still mostly human, but not all.

I've really been enjoying this season ,but I've really enjoyed all the seasons of Westworld.

I think it's so obvious that's Caleb's kid that it would be more of a twist if it wasn't. They cut right from the kids face to hers at one point. I'm enjoying this season consistently so far near the first season, which says a lot because Season 3 completely lost me. Hopefully they don't get too goofy with twists and timelines and keep it the 2.5 or 3 things they have going now and just tie them together better than whatever 2 did.

I wasn't in "figure out the puzzle" mode, also I'm generally a dummy when it comes to these things, so it didn't occur to me that futuregirl was Caleb's daughter, but that does make sense.

The kid's face opening up to release a swarm of flies was so extra, I loved it. There's literal tubes of flies all around the facility that Hale could've opened at any point since they got there, but she went the extra mile to make sure Caleb was traumatized for life. Mad respect for my robot queen. Supremely happy with all the Maeve/Caleb, Bernard/Stubbs scenes. Dolores stuff will hopefully catch up.

This ep was pretty good. I don’t know why they didn’t ride out more of the “in the park doing park poo poo” because it’s always fun, especially the Dolores Revolution storyline. Mad I keep watching this dumb show for its cool parts, just like PoI.

So like a lot of people I've sorta forgotten a lot of Season 3 and what I do recall is sorta jumbled. Just checking I'm not missing something. So the Hale in S3 that was one of the Dolores spheres, she was having feelings about Hale's real family and moral qualms about the stuff the other Dolores gestalt was having her do last season right? Then she and her family got blown up, hence the arm burns but I can't remember if they implied or outright showed who set the bomb, feel like it was implied to be the other Dolores's. Then it was revealed that the main Dolores who was clashing with Maeve all of S3 was just trying to overthrow the humans controlling the machine thing that was deciding everyone's futures and she handed over control to Maeve and Caleb right? With the implication being she was just trying to kill some humans, not all humans. They hosed over the guy played by Vincent Cassel and did a revolution but it didn't really massively change the world and that Dolores got to go into the sublime with the other hosts from the end of S2. So now this Dolores/Hale who was having qualms last season is fully on board the kill/enslave/torture all humans train? Is that all relatively correct given what we know at this point?

There's not a lot to discuss after the first two episodes. Absolutely nothing is happening to the point where it immediately leaves my mind after it ends. That's okay, I'll still keep drinking this garbage

I think a lot of people *don't trust* the show after Seasons 2 and 3, so there's no point doing anything but giving a few reactions. This season is so far, so good, but its still not enough to get me to do more than speculate a little while watching instead of spending time talking about it much after.

Also the first episode was very boring and the latest two a lot better so whoever came back after Season 3 probably wasn’t very encouraged.

Finally, after three seasons, Bernard doesn't suck. Was expecting a lot more "eat the tuna melt" random bullshit, but they made that blissfully short. Though I am wondering where the lasers in the desert were coming from and why they couldn't drive around them. Westworld and Kenobi - just can't drive around them lasers.

Unless this is a future where wildlife is extinct (a high probability), I'd expect to see more random animal corpses around the lasers too. Then again this is a show where the likelihood of bullets hurting you is entirely dependent on Who/What/Where you are at the time. I think we're not supposed to think about it too hard. Just imagine J Nolan and L Joy miming a dome around themselves while humming futuristic sounds.

That was pretty weird since I think we saw in the first season that only the 1st-gen mechanical hosts can open their faces and not the 3d-printed milkbots. So either they decided to use a super old spare childsized robot to create the daughter's likeness, or they had the foresight to create it 30-40 years before she was born and they got super lucky with the accuracy. Unrelated but I'm also a little confused about the fake sub-level that's actually part of the game: Why do they dump corpses there and not an actual service level? Do the bodies get repaired at all? Do hosts do the repairs now instead of people? So far the show feels like it's cribbing pretty hard from Matrix Resurrections with the Dolores story and the frequent "hey hey remember this quote from the earlier season? what about this outfit? eh? ehhhhh?" callbacks LentThem fucked around with this message at 20:07 on Jul 11, 2022 |

They probably get dumped there for appearances, then dumped to the lower level later.

Everything to do with the theme park and god bernard was cool. A shame we already left 1920s world. More of that less of Dolores please.

1920s world could be cool, but they clearly established that it was just the exact story lines of West World with faster firing guns and cars instead of horses. Though they could have handled that secret story better. Granted, we don't know how much time has passed, but we went from being in that bar, the lady saying "I heard there's a secret easter egg story", then the safe robbery happens, they are dumped in the fake underground, and that lady has already found the easter egg story? It's the very first day of the park and she already grouped up with people and found the secret story?

You'd make it super obvious or have a plant to make sure your premium guests/glorified beta testers get to take part in the super secret awesome gimmick of the new park I guess right? Then they give out positive impressions on whatever the future version of instagram is. It's also all moot if it was all a trap for Maeve and Caleb, then they were just a way to corral them into the area they were supposed to be going I guess? All nonsense the second you start actually thinking about it or questioning how this works as a tourist attraction logistically so classic Westworld.

Pretty funny how Bernard is basically doing what the AI did last season to guide humanity, except he needed 8000 years of running simulations to brute force the info he needed. The AI manipulating humanity with data projections was framed as a bad thing last season, right? I guess it's a good thing now that it's needed to save everybody. Mind control bacteria looking very much like the mind control black oil from the X-files. Maeve's hacking powers are still the worst poo poo the show has introduced, even though I do get that she was allowed to do as much as she has up to this point as a 6-D chess game by Hale.

I think the difference is Bernard is just trying to keep humanity from killing itself, and then he'll gently caress off and let people choose how they want. The AI was just deciding some people were bad from the jump and forcing them into lovely situations without any choice.

Bernard knows all the possibilities of people's free will and is acting in accordance to what's happening to stay in the right timeline, so to speak. I get that there's a difference but they're pretty close.

The waitress in a really rundown diner having a zebra 301 pen is either immersion breaking (as it's too nice for a cheap diner) or very realistic (because when you're writing things down all day it's the world's best pen)

Watching the first episode and god drat did this become a stupid show. I wish I could enjoy it for the cheese it is, but something about how incredible season one was puts a terrible taste in mouth. It's like listening to a boring drunk hot guy rant at length about how we're all in a simulation. CatstropheWaitress fucked around with this message at 03:51 on Jul 12, 2022 |

Great thing about S1 was that while the show was violence porn, that was built into the commentary of how that's a bad side of humanity and the cruelty isn't forgotten. Now it's just stupid gun porn with 'well it's a dystopia' as it's only excuse. They went and turned it into the Walking Dead. The only possible outcome is a Butlerian Jihad because either you remove the computers or you're eventually going to get another cycle of genocidal robots or AI eye of sauron.

If that's the premise tho, at least lean into it and have fun with it. You can see a gun fight on any thriller. It's astonishing how little they do with the premise of cyborgs outside of that they can be re-made and have identity problems. Give them little rockets in their heels. Have one with a flamethrower crotch. Have the robots all join together into a mecha snake, like that Bollywood flick. Anything.
