And with Batman and Superman, there are some short cuts / shorthand that could have been taken because those characters have been around for forever in film. Where as marvel characters were not as well known to the general public. Also a lot of the criticism he's received is about how his movies give vibes that are toxic, randian, cryptofascist, etc... to the point that it became received wisdom among a certain part of the internet to treat everything around him as vaguely reactionary. An assessment of his actual character and politics (which seem to be "generic Hollywood lib" who made a clumsy but earnest movie about Feminism in Cinema 101) should probably enter the picture at some point.
