nah chill

I always assume these performative neoliberal solutions (like bulletproof elementary school doors and glass, bulletproof backpacks, child size bulletproof vests) are pushed because all of the companies are ran by ex-cop ex-military types turned "security expert." It p much boils down to governments throwing more money at the (private) cops.

Yes and it can all be sold or heavily subsidized to other countries as 'defense'; something about a "military-industrial complex" or something, idk. Buy war bonds.

its more of a psychological thing, yeah the one off prototype soul snatcher is probably made by a ex cop and it will never get much past this one off media attention, but that attention is amplified and very soon no longer making the creator any money.

But its then nationwide news also.

I’m a librarian with an anxiety-riddled brain. I admit that I don’t truly know how I’d actually react in an active shooter situation. That being said I cannot comprehend hearing children screaming in terror and pain nearby and not feeling the immediate urge to sprint in that direction to see if I can do literally anything, much less just standing around doing actively and literally nothing.

Like, "go help children in danger" seems like it would be a pretty immediate reaction for most folks. How in the hell do you even go about overriding what seems like a pretty basic instinct? The Uvalde PD seemed to take cowardice to a whole new level that I genuinely don’t understand.

I'm always curious why showing people what happened (assuming its not edited/forged) is so evil.

My favorites were when Trump would soil himself over the media simply quoting him.

I worked in a drug factory that made chemo drugs and was heavily regulated by as many drug regulation bodies as you can imagine, and literally never heard a single operator ever get defensive about reviewing video. Generally it was welcomed because video review was a bluff:

People in management and higher, they got really defensive about reviewing video, especially when the video involved people taking phone calls for minutes at a time, getting animated, then doing something uncouth or against the rules under duress in a cleanroom. Especially when the operator was going to be asked why they proceeded against procedure, etc.

Generally, they only did video review of stuff they already terminated someone for because any kind of deep dive would put all of them on a big stage.

I don’t blame the cops for freezing up at first—it’s awful but a natural reaction. What I don’t understand is standing around for an hour, periodically hearing gunshots at random intervals and doing nothing for all that time.

Also I don’t see why the families of the victims even want to see that video, much less why it’s so wrong they aren’t the first to see it.

They shouldn't be freezing up though. Their budget is in the millions and they receive "training" to handle poo poo like this. They're incompetent coward grifters.

A lot of money is spent training to stop the "freezing up" up at first, I absolutely blame them for that. This country spends so much time sucking cop dick that these cowards start believing they can walk on water and the second they are placed in an actual difficult situation they run away. Even how they backed away from the gunfire was cowardly no one was trying to return fire or get a better angle or even cover the officers who were hit. It was just a rush to get away from danger as fast as possible.

Just gonna repost this again.

Yup, I don't think Punisher dude and teacher husband are the same guy. Punisher Cop was wearing black and had a pistol, whereas there's a guy in brown (with a long gun) at the very end of the footage who is being held back by other cops.

However, I don't see Punisher Cop reappear later in the video, so maybe that is him, I dunno.

Yeah, the last two minutes of the footage have a dude being held back (with increasing force) by other cops, and he definitely seems shaken up (keeps putting his hand to his mouth, etc). They're definitely trying to prevent him from going further down the hallway...the footage ends before we see more, though.

Like, no poo poo someone is shaken up in this instance, but there's a visible level of "Oh gently caress no" the other cops don't have, combined with him being held back. :smith: Regardless of who that guy is, that part is very hard to watch.

I’m just saying, Punisher once had a subplot where an anarchist, a modern day Nazi, and an insane priest all teamed up and copied his shtick.

The subplot ended with him meeting them, and while he told the Nazi and priest to gently caress off on principle alone when they tried to invite him, he actually took the time to explain to the anarchist that the thing he took issue with wasn’t necessarily the ideological bent, but that he’d killed a poor maid with a stray bullet into an adjacent room while he was mowing down the suits at a corporate board meeting.

And yet cops and their bootlickers still appropriated his symbol

The Punisher origin story is that the dude lost his wife and TWO CHILDREN to mob crossfire. Maybe the cops were trying to bring their "hero " into being, much like that little dude orphaned after the parade shooting now has enough donated money to maybe become Batman down the road.
