If you can, play Portal 2 on PC; there's an INCREDIBLY in-depth and easy to use level editor that's like click and drag, and you can pop in on the fly to test out your test chamber. It's wonderful, and a shame that it's not included in the Switch version.

I have never played with it, but I have enjoyed the extra half hour of JK Simmons it gave us.

question: did they ever update the N64 stuff to let you rebind controls so that C-buttons aren't hosed, or no

unless you use one of the (immediately scalped) N64 controllers, if you want to press C-right or C-up you need to hold ZR and then press A/X respectively

edit: also even though there's system-wide remapping, that doesn't help when the app expects you to press multiple buttons to do something

Can’t you just use the right stick? How would you unfuck it if there aren’t enough buttons.

Using the right stick can be a little annoying in some games because of the way it reads left and slightly down as left and then down but it's not super noticeable outside of the Zelda games for me

drat, that's even worse than using the right stick, truly the N64 had one of the most cursed controllers in gaming.

The only thing I actually actively hate about the default N64 app controls is that the n64 shoulder buttons aren't mapped to L and R or ZL and ZR. Insane choice imo. Either would be fine with Z as the other left shoulder button

Is there a third party N64 style controller for the Switch?

This one shows up a few times, I guess there's a Switch version that works?

I gravitated towards the Greens, eventually even joining the party itself.

The Linke is a party I grudgingly accept exists, but I've learned enough about DDR-history I can't bring myself to trust a party that was once the SED, a party leading the corrupt state apparatus ...

And it made one-eighth the difference.
Maybe look for Genesis controllers with analog sticks? Seems one exists with one stick but dunno if it's Switch compatible. The 8bitdo one doesn't have any analog sticks sadly.

I've been playing through Banjo Kazooie and having to clack the right stick a few times to move the camera is always a little bit of an adventure.

That and the twitchiness of the movement in general. Is that just the game being old or was the N64 analog stick that sensitive?

The dpad on the M30 can emulate either left or right stick, though you're limited to 8-way input on them.

I remember seeing a video about how every rerelease of Mario 64 has had different deadzones from the N64 version (and that this is part of why people playing the newer releases think the controls aged poorly), could be the same thing for Banjo.

This controller was the one I used as a kid and and continue to use as an adult since it’s actually not dumb as poo poo and allows access to all the buttons at all times.

Also the gamecube controller with an additional left shoulder button Is the best controller period.
