this guy (yamagami) seemed to have a really bad family life and was super tortured by it. Maternal grandpa was a businessman with money and power at some company and his father was considered to be like the grandpa's heir when he married into the family. But the pressure was too great so the father committed suicide. yamagami felt responsible even though he was 4 years old. That sort of stuff honestly not so surprising that his mom was driven to a cult

i liked the bad empanada video on the the holodomor wikipedia article so i tried to watch the one on xinjiang and it was total bullshit he does a five minute preamble making it sound like hes going to go after both sides but he just spends the whole time interpreting chinese sources in the most willfully dense way possible he took away eighty minutes of my life and i want them back!!! ...oh i would have just wasted them anyway

the thing about the holodomor video is that there are actually indisputedly credible academic sources that can be pointed to in the article to contrast with the just as indisputedly bad ones so the bias is very obvious he outlines some pretty clear ways the holodomor was real people could present a credible argument the problem is they just dont have any sources to back them up with the xinjiang video he instead takes the position that its basically impossible for the chinese government to prove that its not doing a genocide since any argument they make to this effect is tainted with bias and any uyghur living in xinjiang needs to be treated like theyve got a gun to their head you could of course make arguments based on broad statistical data to this effect which empanada rather conspicuously avoids doing i had to pause the video the few times he even made a pretense of that because he rushes past them as quickly as possible to get to the next anecdote

I wonder what percentage of the issue is immigration related and what percentage of the issue is the US's decaying infrastructure. Like if the 5G guy had been born an american, would the US be at the forefront of 5G technology, or would that guy have ended up writing A/B tests for a startup somewhere because he still couldn't get a position somewhere doing his research?
