I get that Britain isn't built for this kinda temp and they are far less likely to have stuff like AC, but drat it's crazy to see them scramble and panic about temps that would be merely "lovely August Weather" here, in a state that also turns into a frigid hellhole 1/3rd of the year.

it's really clear that a lot of people have no idea what it's like to live in a temperate climate or even what that means. The UK is a humid temperate oceanic climate, and Ireland is even more of a temperate oceanic climate as the Azores high doesn't often extend up into Ireland the way it will in the southern UK. Also, things are catching fire because you don't spend money building infrastructure that can withstand extremes in temperature that other climates face when you don't have a climate that has high or low extreme temperatures. It's always been very nice. Everyone else at the beach always seemed to be very much enjoying it as well. I can see if people were elderly or had an underlining condition that could be cause issues, but for a normal healthy person pretty sure it shouldn't?
