The lucifer and biscuit hammer adaptation is pretty cheap. I will continue watching because i still can't believe we got an anime out of it. Also the lizard Neu is still the best.

i personally specifically didnt even mind the instances where it happens because, they gave date a sidekick to play off of so him being lame for it is the joke. thoguht it was a lot funnier than the previous instances in like zero escape where the protag would randomly descend into a horny joke for two minutes and nothing else

Mostly it's just wild that they managed to work the existence of a porno mag into every single QTE event in Somnium Files 1. All of them. If you have an aversion to jokes getting beaten into the ground to see if they get back up and get funny again then maybe Kotaro Uchikoshi games aren't for you.

I did think that was funny, but I was watching a twitch content creator playing the game and their consternation at it constantly coming up might have been why. Game reminded me a lot of Steins;Gate and I hope to play it some day.

As someone who's never been a huge fan of bawdy humor or raunchy comedy, I generally find it more tolerable when it crops up in anime (compared to other mediums). Like I haven't played Somnium but porn mag bullet time just sounds silly to me, which honestly makes it more palatable. It's stupid and silly, and that layer of obvious whimsy makes it easier to acknowledge as a gag and move on, like violence in a Looney Tunes cartoon. When Wile E. Coyote blows himself up, I don't think about actual people getting blown to smithereens, cause it's just so obviously dumb (non-pejorative). Not trying to excuse everything that happens under the pretense of joking around, there's definitely stuff in poor taste even then - also, I'm a dude (no caveats or riders), which informs my perspective on the Sex Funny - but compared to a lot of the sex jokes I see slipped into other media, which tend to come across as more grounded (and sometimes mean-spirited, in a way I can't quite nail down), I'll take my chances with anime and anime-adjacent products (like games) that dabble in the horny with a clown nose on.

the gaogaigar character designer is great, he did some of the side character designs in code geass too and adapted clamp's work on the main characters for animation

unfortunately, the gaogaigar OVA only ever has the really old bad fansubs but the base series has official subs which are good my favorite thing about the old fansubs is that the boss of GGG addresses his subordinates as -kun (in the sense of a superior addressing a subordinate) and the subbers got confused and thought it was a term of affection and translated it as him being on a first-name basis with characters whose first names are never used in the show and only exist in external media lol
