The way I read it is that it's contrasting the fairly unenthusiastic and by-the-numbers reporting of the media on major issues that affect millions of people on the one hand with the rapid-fire, frothing-at-the-mouth output of transphobic editorials on the other. For example, in the UK media they've currently got like 16 transphobic articles per day across all newspapers, five a day alone from a single publication (Daily Mail).

Certainly most of us in the West want Taiwan to keep its independence, but is it really worth it to interfere there to the point of starting another war?

The Chinese Civil War between the capitalist Republic of China was led by Chiang Kai-shek. His forces fought against the Chinese Communist Party, which of course was led by Mao Zedong. Mao won and the war on the mainland ended in 1949. The remnants of Chiang Kai-shek’s forces retreated to the island of Formosa, which is now Taiwan. Regardless, the island is not part of NATO. It remains Chinese. Technically the Chinese Civil War is still ongoing even though both parties now trade heavily with each other.

As much as I detest the CCP tyrants, Pelosi should back off. Who cares about saving face—especially Pelosi’s wrinkled one? How did the Democrats become the party of war?

Oh, I forgot they serve not the American middle class, but rather globalist corporations, big banks, and the Military Industrial Complex. They depend on campaign contributions from such entities. What about the disappearing middle class? Apparently the Democrats want them to shut up, get poorer, and lose their lives in useless wars.

The filibuster literally prevents that second part. The filibuster is just saying "Nope we're not going to allow you to present this bill" so it prevents open discourse and enacting legislation. Without the filibuster senators would have to actually discuss and vote on bills. Even in the imaginary situation where this is what the right wing actually wants the answer is still "end the filibuster."

Unfortunately, the main response has been to impose brutal sanctions on Russia that will destroy the Russian people but not their leaders, who are well insulated from the effect of sanctions. Edit - so in the second panel, "you're going to report on Covid", writing the same article over and over as part of our team, while the transphobic op-ed guy (who is still a part of our team, not a different team as implied by we) is going to write transphobic op-eds. Both Covid and the new plague are just red herrings, the point is that the transphobic guy writes the same article over and over again?
