I wish I had a better followup to that Heart dissection effortpost but all I have to add is that whoever it was that said Heart storylines never go anywhere, just sort of end and go to the next thing, is going to be very vindicated today.

Okay but nothing bad happened, you did not even show why the pyramid scheme is bad, you just had one character say "that's bad" and then we wrapped it up. This isn't really a story, it's just almost a story.

Someone upthread mentioned that basically every Heart of the City plotline ends like this and it's hard to unsee now. Nice art, appealing characters, solid premises, but straight up nonexistent follow through.

Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?
Yeah, an extra week of strips of PROBLEM happening because of circumstances and then Heart being pushed to do the right thing would work a lot better. Have the kids she brought on board mess things up(i.e. she can't force them to pay her back) or have the principal come by and ask why kids are acting like MLMs in their school.

It's amusing how often Cat Tales lacks a proper setup or punchline. Something unexpected happens and it might be slightly amusing but not quite there yet.

Some of them feel like side gags from the early cartoons.

Also, Mopsy takes no prisoners.

I think the joke has to do with the way she's holding her hands - you see doctors on TV doing that right after they wash up for surgery.

It's not just plotlines, pretty much every individual strip just kind of dangles. You can kind of see how it's supposed to go but it has the most actively bad pacing of any comic I've ever seen.

It's got that "drawn by someone for their school/university newspaper after spending years doodling in the margins of their notebooks and finally trying to get stuff published" look to it (which I know from having done exactly that).
