Yes. Mostly in the mid-Atlantic/New England, but they aren’t nearly as common as in Europe.

They're all over the place in the northeast. The whole region used to have a lot of farms, back in the day. There are also a ton of buried rocks, deposited there by glaciers. What this means that every spring, frost heave brings tons of rocks to the surface. The joke among farmers is that they grow rocks. Well, you can't leave those rocks in your field (they'd be murder on the plows), and they have to go somewhere, so the done thing was to stack them on the property line to make a wall. A lot of the farms are overgrown and reclaimed into public parks and such these days, so the end result is you can be walking in the woods and see random stone walls just sitting there, where a farm used to be. It's kind of wild, but they're a staple around here.

Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it,
And spills the upper boulders in the sun;
And makes gaps even two can pass abreast.
The work of hunters is another thing:
I have come after them and made repair
Where they have left not one stone on a stone,
But they would have the rabbit out of hiding,
To please the yelping dogs. The gaps I mean,
No one has seen them made or heard them made,
But at spring mending-time we find them there.
I let my neighbor know beyond the hill;
And on a day we meet to walk the line
And set the wall between us once again.
We keep the wall between us as we go.
To each the boulders that have fallen to each.
And some are loaves and some so nearly balls
We have to use a spell to make them balance:
‘Stay where you are until our backs are turned!’
We wear our fingers rough with handling them.
Oh, just another kind of out-door game,
One on a side. It comes to little more:
There where it is we do not need the wall:
He is all pine and I am apple orchard.
My apple trees will never get across
And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him.
He only says, ‘Good fences make good neighbors.’
Spring is the mischief in me, and I wonder
If I could put a notion in his head:
‘Why do they make good neighbors? Isn't it
Where there are cows? But here there are no cows.
Before I built a wall I'd ask to know
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offense.
Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That wants it down.’ I could say ‘Elves’ to him,
But it's not elves exactly, and I'd rather
He said it for himself. I see him there
Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top
In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed.
He moves in darkness as it seems to me,
Not of woods only and the shade of trees.
He will not go behind his father's saying,
And he likes having thought of it so well
He says again, ‘Good fences make good neighbors.’

Do people still care about BMX?

BMX is a very cyclical sport with lots of boom and bust cycles. It got huge during the 80s then fell out of popularity and tons of companies went bankrupt. There was another boom during the X-games era when you had people like Dave Mirra who were as famous as most other sports celebrities. BMX is back in a lull period where there’s plenty of people riding and a very healthy ecosystem of rider-owned companies feeding the sport, but it hasn’t broken through and sustained back into mainstream popularity like previous cycles.

Scooters also got very popular which took a small chuck of that rider base away from BMX, mainly kids starting out in skateparks.

So tl;dr, it’s still popular with people who love the sport and quite healthy but it’s not something you hear of everyday.

Also to be clear, this isn't the complete list of streamers we'll do outreach to; it's a list of names that we might provide special attention to, e.g. by creating mods that let them cameo inside the game somehow.

From your list, Matt McMuscles is a cool dude (near as I can tell). I don't know that your game fits his style (a lot of licensed games/fighting games as opposed to indie games) but I like his stuff for what that's worth. He just started an LP channel that doesn't have a lot of vids or subs yet, so hopefully if he was going to look at it he'd do it on his main channel.

For other channels not on the list
Cartoonz (https://www.youtube.com/c/CaRtOoNz/) might be an option as he seems to show indie/smaller games in between Triple A coverage.

H20Delirious (https://www.youtube.com/user/H2ODelirious) is either an idiot or does a very convincing idiot play. But he also has 14M subscribers, so he can't be completely wrong.

Both of those guys are big on playing with custom characters that look like their AVs, so if you can make a battleship look like a red skinned, one eyed devil, or Jason Voorhees in a blue hoodie, that will possibly be a boost.

Start by looking for organisations around you that deal with the topic you're passionate about and see if they have need of volunteers. Facebook, for all its flaws, can be a decent spot to find local groups without much of an online presence.

I have a PDF document I've been editing for about a year. I have been adding text boxes, times new roman, size 8, colour red. Occasionally I've switched it up to black size 10. No issues at all.

Now, when I go to click on those boxes, it seems to start with Helvetica, size 12, black. And if I copy the boxes, that's what it copies them as (as you can see with the "F" there).

The only thing I can think of is that yesterday I tried to make a little line, and the issue seems to have started after that.

I've tried restarting the program, and I've tried restarting the computer. I'm not very good with this stuff.

Is there a way out of this bizarre hell?

Holy poo poo, now it's gone and actually changed a bunch of the text boxes I'd moved into the black 12 Helevetica thing. It was going along ok, then I zoomed in on the document, and it decided to go "ZOINK", and change all the ones I'd touched.

What the gently caress is going on, why is it torturing me like this.

edit - when I go to add a new text box, it starts as "Red, Times new roman, 9" (although the text is actually much smaller than it should be / used to be). But when I click on the pre-existing boxes, which are clearly "Red, Times new Roman, 9" and then I click on the text edit tool, it goes "we're talking Black Helvetica 12, yeah?". It's so goddamn weird.

You'd have to say what program you're working with, but even if you did, I'm not sure anyone would know exactly what's going without examining the document and the program itself. Sorry that I don't have a solution, but I can suggest some alternatives.

If you're working on a document with many pages over a long period of time, then a visual editor is not going to be ideal since, as you've seen, an unintentional change can end up screwing up the whole document and it can be difficult to see how to revert it. You will want to consider moving to a proper typesetting program such as InDesign (although this costs money of course) which offers better document creation tools.

Even better would be a typesetting system that uses a markup language as those give you very fine control over exactly what is happening at any point in the document and you can safely make changes without messing up the rest of the document. An example of this would be something like LaTeX, or for the specific case of music notation, LilyPond. These have a learning curve to them but tend to be worth it. Once you are set up with what you need, you usually don't need to make big changes to your workflow.

Obviously if you chose a different system it would be time consuming to transfer and rewrite things since you have over 400 pages, but you could spread it out over a period of time and then your document would better prepared for future additions.

Here's a LilyPond example I found that somewhat matches what you have in your document.

https://music.stackexchange.com/questions/47957/lilypond-is-there-a-way-to-create-a-song-with-just-lyrics-and-chords-without-t

There is a reason a lot of these things use that sucky typewriter font, courier new: all letters have the same width, which makes it easy to align text. If you decide to handle it in an actual text editor like word, that's a good tip.
If you do fix it (or not), can you post the document? It's always nice to have these collections.

Rich people showers: rich people don't have cold homes I assume. Get some good floor heating, close doors and windows and you won't get cold. And then have Enrique dry you the second he turns the water off.

How cool is your landlord? I do some side work for a guy that owns, well basically an entire neighborhood. We'll do weird stuff all the time for tenants if they ask. Either let them do it themselves, or come and help them do it if they explain what it is they need. Usually with the caveat that you have to leave whatever it is installed, or repair it when you're done. I just added a hidden outlet for a lighted/heated mirror because the renters ask and the owner was just like sure why not. It didn't take me but half an hour and parts we had kicking around.

If it's a temporary situation, would it be worth just popping out the existing screens and putting them back when you move?

Ask in the wiring thread, though I'd wager that they'll tell you it's not worth the risk. Doing work for landlords is always a dicey proposition; even if they say they're OK with it, they can always come back later and say "this isn't what I agreed to" or something. Running power wiring in particular should be done to code, and that generally doesn't mean "sending it out one window and in another".
