First time trying out Midjourney with the Discord bot. Seems real good at creating 70's prog-rock album covers. I also tried some WH40k style art. It definitely knew it was pulling from 40k with the prompts, but it didn't seem to quite hit the mark. It certainly has the right tone and feel, but not much coherence. Maybe that makes it perfect for 40k, though.

played around with midjourney a bit "musclebound Abraham Lincoln making bedroom eyes tintype photo" "Socrates action figure with Kung Fu grip" mj is pretty cool but has all the worst bits of Dall-E 2 in that they aggressively filter your prompts, have a low limit on generations before you have to pay, and it doesn't know much in the way of pop culture or public figures

Twitter thought it was spam and send it to the review queue. The same thing happened to the account I made on my Nintendo Switch since it was just numbers. I posted a video recorded and the entire process including the first post was done on my Switch and it was banned within minutes. Later the account was unbanned, but then later banned for not being used again I think it was hacked I have no idea I didn't even set a password so it was probably some Nintendo Switch default. I just wanted to get a video off my switch and that's how you did it. This would have been right around launch.

The language model, even outside of visual representations, is garbage in Dall-E 2. They could majorly improve results just by improving its ability to parse text, it's currently kind of a crapshoot and that is annoying with the tight limits on how much you can generate for free (and with the cost of buying more).

In yet another attempt at getting a dog with human hands, I tried a dog prompt and then erased the dog's paws. I used the prompt "dog throwing a basketball in to a hoop, high quality photograph". I tried replacing the paws with the addition of the words "with human hands" and it just gave me normal paws. When I put only "human hands" in for the paws I get nothing or.. fingers.

I think the immediate and obvious benefit to society when these image generators really take off will be a far greater public understanding of the history of art and art styles. There are internet nerds in discord compiling style guides with hundreds of examples just to get the right tone for their fantasy DND weapon sets or catgirl fashion shoots. AARD VARKMAN posted:In yet another attempt at getting a dog with human hands, I tried a dog prompt and then erased the dog's paws. I got a charizard with sticks for hands yesterday and nothing remotely close was specified in the prompt. The weird thing is that it can do really good / accurate eyes. I've never seen it do good hands. It also loves just replacing hands with various simpler items. Here's the midjourney result for a hand Here's the midjourney result for an eye "a human hand" gets you some even weirder poo poo (a human hand hyperrealistic extreme close-up --q 2)

They're all like that to some degree, I think they are hyper sensitive to the picture-AI version of the 'hyper advanced AI chatbot immediately becomes a racist nazi' headline that put a bullet in that chat AI on twitter a while ago. Honestly, while this kind of stuff takes off and gains momentum I think it's for the better that they leave the darker stuff off the table to avoid being the next battleground in the current culture war. MidJourney allows all of those things though AFAIK. It restricts gore/porn related keywords only. Sally Sprodgkin fucked around with this message at 04:19 on Aug 3, 2022 |

Midjourney is very restrictive beyond just gore and porn and there are huge gaps in its knowledge of pop culture/popular figures. Craiyon has absolutely no restrictions and the internet has not yet burned down because of it. They've also been rapidly improving their quality. If they keep this up they will eventually be the best one. I have Dall-E 2 and MidJourney access but I still end up having more fun with Craiyon.

Not sure what MidJourney restricts outside of those categories, the most egregious ones I have seen are 'thicc' and 'bleeding' both not available as keywords. I haven't seen any drug related restrictions but I haven't exactly been trying to trigger them - 'weed' works for example and it will give you a marijuana leaf as the output. You are correct though that they kind of soft-censor faces, while you can type in 'Donald Trump but he's wearing a tutu' or 'Drake but he's a 19th century poet' - you will almost never get something that looks exactly like those people (but they will have the same basic shape/hair color etc) - they publicise that they always add variance to faces even if keyworded with a very famous person. That being said, it is possible to play around with source images and image weight to get something that looks almost exactly like a specific person, but it's not as simple as typing in their name.

I couldn't make "sexy abraham lincoln" or "seductive abraham lincoln" and describing either of those as porn is pretty ridiculous and they say generating anything violent is against the rules and can get you banned, it doesn't have to be gore so I disagree with your claim that they only censor gore and porn

Yeah, I'm not advocating one way or another, but it seems like the people in the corporate areas of the bigger companies doing this may have sat down independently of one another at some stage and had a risk discussion along the lines of "this technology is cool but if our AI generates a hyper realistic image of donald trump in blackface doing actual cannibalism on a democrat and they're all wearing baroque style clothing which blows up on the internet it may affect our ability to monetise this technology, kind of like that twitter chatbot" - of which Craiyon is the exception in the crowd for whatever reason.
