Divinity runs great on the switch. I put in about 20 hours and never had much of an issue other than realizing that type of game is not for me.

Xenoblade, I didn't expect to like, but I'm digging it so far. Just wish there was a way to shut off the party chatter during fights.

I was referring to the UI indicating you have a new item or tip to read. A little circle appears on each category to tell you there's something new. My gamer brain always wants to clear these away when I play games, but in XB3 you stumble across new things at such a rate that doing it is a fool's errand.

But to answer your question, yeah game's fun.

thanks for this rec! i really like littlewood so far. it wasn't exactly what i was looking for but it's a great, cozy town building game.

super charming, lots of goals (big and small), and a cute story. the gameplay is pretty low pressure- you can kind of do whatever you want whenever you want. i really like that the day cycles are on more "energy consumption" instead of time based. it definitely has that "one more day" addicting vibe from stardew.

This is Nintendo. The plug on the dock isn't even technically within the USB-C spec, they for sure didn't use standard USB-C video.

You have to use the official USB C power supply for the dock, too. There are probably some third party ones that work, but check the reviews!

Ugh, Nintendon’t again!

I wanted to hook up switch to my big monitor and rotate it 90 degrees for tate mode, but I think I’ll just get a flip grip because it’s cheaper.

I'm about 3 hours in and I'm intrigued. I'm not digging the combat system yet, but I assume this will open up more as I get further. Is running into the healing circle the only way to heal during a battle?

Each of the heal classes do it in their own way. Like Eunie's default class loadout has a single aoe heal then her talent art is a regen field. These are cooldown based so you can't really vomit out heals unless you turn half your party into healers.

FF8 update 2

Just fought a fake president zombie and stole a bunch of its magic. The fight took me two attempts. I wanted to use it to get 100 stock of esuna, berserk, and double on three characters. Midway thru the drawing the boss cast berserk on squall and before I could react to have someone cast esuna on him, he attacked the boss three times and killed it. So on my second attempt I toned down Squalls STR junction and turned off one of his STR increasing abilities. This time I didn’t kill the boss prematurely!

Now I have a question about the Switch more than FF8. I am thinking about setting up the Angelo Search gimmick, which requires the game to idle in battle for hours. If I play my game docked and turn off the TV, does the Switch keep playing the game?

Edit: seems to keep running just fine with the TV turned off.

I’m going on vacation with my family next week. There will be 4 switches, 3 of which have Mario Kart. What are our multiplayer options? Obviously we can do 4 people on the TV. Can other people connect to play handheld? Do we need Wi-Fi to accomplish anything?

This is one of the most dad questions I’ve had yet.

Checking it out you'd have the option of 4 player on the TV as you said, or using 2 consoles with 2 players on each, since you need a game per console obligatory.

I played yakuza 0 for 99 hrs and 75 was probably riichi mahjong. It's so much fun. Gin rummy is a basic western card equivalent. Imagine that but much more strategic depth.

The switch can do some kind of weird voodoo magic poo poo to create their own WiFi and connect to each other, they have to all be within like ten feet of each other though
