look, D+D has had at least one mod paid for their willingness to murder anyone they're told on behalf of the US government for years now. koos has been moving them off it slowly, and patiently. now we just have a guy who thinks they're all acceptable sacrifices to defeat the russians, a guy who says the holocaust didn't happen and that monkeypox is a disease of the gays, and a guy who volunteered to say "they're not concentration camps when a democrat does them, also people are just pretending to care about rape." its called 'harm reduction' and it is the cornerstone of modern liberal politics

I think the thing that is the most telling is the fact that the reaction to Jack Allison making that post that just objectively proved how language suddenly switched from "concentration camps" to "intake facilities" was to privately complain to mods and get them to crack down on the succ zone thread. Even when I still believed dumb things, I wouldn't have done something like that - the whole reason my views changed in the first place was due to accumulating dissonance from them. Also, that guy absolutely looks down on people. His whole thing is whining about "people going after their posting enemies" (which is an amusing bit of projection given stuff like the above). Part of the reason why I can guarantee their views won't change is that a not-insignificant reason they hold them is simple spite towards people like us and a firm unwillingness to ever give ground. You see this in stuff like the whole Tara Reade situation - he believed people were only bringing it up in bad faith as a "gotcha" against their posting enemies. The unwillingness to actually believe that opposing views are held in earnest precludes ever learning from or adopting them. The people who get really angry are ironically more likely to someday change their minds, because their anger is usually the result of "believing that our views are bad," as opposed to "believing that we're lying about having those views in the first place."
