A boombox is not a toy!

Anyone able to help chase down some tone? The "dreamy" clean tone in the intro and continuing on into the first verse:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ONcyaZazxg

My naive ear still sucks a bit at distinguishing types of delay and types of reverb, and I think this is about the time period he was using rack-mounted fx so no easy "he used these pedals". Is this a hall reverb going into an analog delay? Or some other modulation?

I'm not really getting close with my amp (Yamaha THR30ii), and thinking about picking up a reverb and/or a delay to start experimenting and working towards this tone. Which effect would be a good first supplement to the limited delay and modulation on my amp?

The delay sounds like a lottery straightforward digital delay on quarter notes, there's a little bit of drive. I'm not positive but there might be some drive after the delay, it sounds like it's crunching as the layers add up. The intro might be with a looper, or it night just be a poo poo ton of overdubbing, or maybe both. There are a lot of guitars there either way, I hear a 12 string acoustic playing the big chunky chords.

I need help identifying an artist. It's a duo with a guy playing guitar (a clean sounding strat) and a woman playing bass and singing. The music is dancy and mostly instrumental, with the vocals backing up the groove. The guitar player has long dark hair (with bangs) and typically wears a sort of sparkly pantsuit thing. The name of the band is one word I think and it's difficult to pronounce. Active now and became popular within the last 5 years.

Khruangbin is a guitar/bass/drums trio where the guitarist, who plays a clean strat, and bass player wear matching wigs/hairdos

Singing and playing that briskly seems super challenging.

Things seemed to come through OK enough on the iPhone mic. What model guitar is that?

it's a Taylor DN3. All solid wood, really nice tone, I think... it has forward-shifted bracing so it's got more of a low-end and isn't so bright-sounding like most other Taylors. Also I love that it doesn't have a pickguard.

examples of the kind of toan i can achieve w/ this thing (gotta turn you volume way up):

Can anyone spot whats wrong with the connection for the neck pickup on my Tele clone here? Only the bridge position works (nothing from middle)

I tried fitting a filtertron but just reconnected this one when it didn't fit. I think the ground should be okay like that?

Multimeter time - tap out all the connections and make sure they're going where you think they're going. Those middle lugs don't look bridged at all apart from a skin of solder so not surprised you're having issues, but it's hard to be sure from photos.

What counts as "goth" is up for debate, but Anyone Can Play Guitar has done lessons on a number of Siouxsie and the Banshees songs, a few for The Cure, and Bela Lugosi's Dead (for whatever that is worth in reality).

Anyone looking for a super-duper deal on a Classic Vibe Squier?

Candy Apple Red Classic Vibe 60's Strat, looks to be pretty good shape, with a bag, for $160 and should be free shipping. I'd buy it myself but would just end up flipping it, so I figure I should share some of my deal finding luck. The only thing I would be leery about is the sticker on the back of the headstock over the original serial number. That means refurbished/returned, but beyond that who knows if there was a serious issue or just a paint chip they touched up.

Thanks for pointing this out, I ended up buying this. It is in really good shape with the exception of the input jack wont stay tight, so I may need to swap that out. I grabbed this to learn to repair/mod on but it is actually a great guitar as is. The finish is near perfect and outside of the input jack there are no issues. I played it all day Sunday and had a ball. I think I'll keep it in my office as a beater. Well worth the $160.

I played a P36 a few times when they came out. Great sounding guitar, very modern feel to the neck, had an average piezo sound you could mix in with the magnetics (small switch behind the bridge). My favourite Fly by far.

Any of you guys refretted your guitar with larger frets and regretted it? I have an Aria les paul custom copy down to 70s specs and I love it but I know I want bigger frets, and I'm just worried it's gonna change the feel so much that I won't like it. Not that I like the low frets, but I don't want it to suddenly sound or feel awful
