Thanks all! My knuckles have "sarx" and "soma" on them. They're old Greek for "flesh" and "body" and I got them from a Stephen King novel... think it might have been The Regulators.

I also got a heat pump!

It’s replacing a 21 year old AC that ran 24/7 and was insanely expensive to keep running. I’m looking forward to it taking over most of my equally ancient furnace’s duties.

Whoa, blast from the past, but yeah, here's their website:

I'd wanted one of Nick's stylized pieces for years, ever since the original of Midnight Guitarist used to hang for sale at a buddy's store and I couldn't afford it at the time. The two we got were well worth the stimmy check, there's just so much there up close, and they're great landscapes from a distance.

I recently got one of those and it changed lighting the grill from somewhat of an annoyance using my chimney starter to loads of fun using my ultra high powered hair dryer. One of the better grilling based purchases I have made

I super appreciate it but also enjoyed making my own starters using paraffin wax and dryer lint. You can make some good waterproof ones for camping via dipping cotton makeup removal pads in wax as well.

How’s the course? I saw a bunch of facebook ads for it but couldn’t find any reviews at that point.

Good pick on Providence too, definitely one of my faves. There’s a wordpress site with a heap of annotations that I found very helpful on the re-read.

I’ve really been enjoying the course! At first I wondered if it’d be too unconventional to be that much practical use, but I’ve found it inspirational and useful. He’ll go on a bit about magick and such here and there, but that’s to be expected. I also find him soothing to listen to.

I got a promo price for an annual subscription to Maestro but I would recommend the course in any case. Thanks for the tip about the Providence site.

Meteorites are sick AF and I'm tempted to collect the odd one myself.

As for content, I bought "so you wanna smell like fuckboy" which is extremely on-brand.

Whelp, instead of music instruments, this month I'm dropping entirely too much money on my first backpacking trip. I have to scrounge around my cook kit for car camping and see what I have that will work before I buy anything for cooking. There are a few more odds and ends I'll still need to pick up too, these were just the big boy things.

I just got an in reach mini 2 for my climbing trips in RMNP. It's been awesome since it gives my wife peace of mind and allows me to take longer trips without worrying about my 4 year old getting hurt and me not being able to come help out.

It's also awesome for checking the weather to see when thunderstorms are coming and I need to be down from the peak.

All that being said, if you're only going to use it once and/or you don't have family at home you want to send "I'm okay, I'm stopping here for the night" messages to, I say skip it.

It's $400 + subscription fees for the In reach! If you want an sos beacon, just get a plb but again, if this is your first trip and you don't see yourself using it frequently, just leave a trip plan with a friend and save yourself a few hundred dollars

I'm hoping this will be the first of many trips. I've been wanting to do more backcountry hiking and camping in Shenandoah and weekend trips along the AT. Now I'll actually have the gear to do that. And that's kinda what I'm weighing with the inreach. Is backpacking something I'll actually do or is it just aspirational (I hope it's not just aspirational, otherwise that was a lot of money for poo poo that will sit in a closet after one trip)
