Says they're 100 bucks, if you are OK with more jank you can DIY the same thing by buying two of the Valve Index speakers (Tectonic TEBM35C10-4 BMR 2") for $43 shipped from Parts-Expres.com, then 3D-printing the chassis: https://www.printables.com/model/47786-off-ear-headphones-for-quest-12-prettygood-3d

They used to sell the printed/assembled item on PrettyGood3D a few years back for only like $50, but the site seems to be down.

Logitech's take on it will probably be lighter/sleeker. If they're good enough I might zip-tie them to my Pimax.

That ignores driving the speakers. They aren't able to be effectively driven with headphone output alone.

PrettyGood3D is just "passive" speakers plugged into the headphone output, in printed holders to hold them off-ear. I found them useless.

The closest comparable product would be VR Ears.

Oh OK, I wasn't sure how the impedance was. I didn't hear anyone complain but it's not the kind of thing you can dig up reviews for.

That's neat indeed! Though on a side-note I'm honestly still surprised Logitech haven't made some SteamVR controllers, or even a Tracker, of their own yet.

So I discovered my case has USB 3.0 ports on top. Is it going to introduce any latency or other issues if I use those instead of the direct motherboard I/O?

I'm hoping that will solve my issue with the Quest 2 constantly disconnecting from the Kiwi cable (I'm assuming that's caused by my mobo only having 2.0 and 3.2 ports, since that's our best theory so far)

Different SSD slots on the same motherboard can have different speeds depending on their placement, and that's not even a cabled vs on-board thing. As finicky as this stuff has been so far, it seemed worth a double-check.

Elite strap style headbands are generally lighter overall and can be comfy for some people if you can deal with the headset pressing tighter against your face and potentially leaving a mark.

For the record, the (original) boboVR M2 halo style bands are bulky and not comfortable to lay down in...

I meant to ask about this earlier, but why would you wear it laying down or sleeping?

The type with the right-angled plug at the quest end? I had one of these and got random dropouts/disconnects/refusals to detect until I reversed the right-angle so it faced unintuitively forwards and all the problems stopped. Then I switched to airlink which is much better overall.

I've been having my Quest disconnect from Link a lot lately as well, I wonder if an update has done something? Airlink is still fine.

E: I'll try flipping it round as well, see if that helps.

Interesting. I actually started with mine facing forwards, then had the same thought and flipped it backwards, but no dice. Maybe a different brand of cable?

Funny story. If you're at the max USB length before using a front port, the 2 feet of cable inside the case can be enough to prevent the USB from giving enough signal/power to work.

Seen so many drat headsets not fire up because of this, tho if you're not using extensions of any kind and a high quality cable it should be alright.

You would wear it laying down to watch TV/movies in bed.

You would wear it sleeping because you fell asleep doing that.

Also I wouldn't be shocked if there were some apps of dubious value claiming to enhance dreams via various audiovisual stimulus as well where someone might intentionally intend to go to sleep with a headset on.

This is one of the reasons I kinda like the idea of the Flow. I wish my oculus was more comfy laying down or leaning back with my head against something because movies in VR is rad and doing it with friends is great. Its just soooo not comfy to sit in a headset against a pillow or something for 2 hours+. Its just not made for it :(

Advanced settings room stuff if you can't just "recenter" or w/e using a button. If I was stuck quest native in an app that didn't let me move the screen or w/e id just lay against a pillow or something but that still leaves the back of the headset digging into my dome. XD
