It kind of even makes it creepier if you took the time to look up all the relevant legalities and loopholes on age of consent in order to justify why it's ok for you to lust after [child in question] in 3 months 5 days 12 hours and 32 minutes.

I agree 100% but if they're putting in the effort to make sure they're not blatantly committing crimes I have to...just shrug, I guess. It still ain't great, but it meets the barest minimum possible.

It's a sliver of restraint, more than you get from people like the legally declared sack of poo poo Vic Mignogna.

There were 17 claims in the lawsuit. All were thrown out, so 17-0. Then the appeals court ruled that those claims were all correctly thrown out, so 34-0. Then there was a cross-appeal by the people Vic sued saying that damages were too low and the appeals court agreed, so 35-0

Shame they brought Vic back for those Full Metal Alchemist movies. They are bad films, but it's an interesting to see them try to re-create the series so dependant on sfx and a seemingly limited budget.

Never saw the OVAs so I’m not sure but in the dub of the latest movie he’s voiced by Caleb Yen:

That looks better, my main complaint with the first movie from what I saw before I noped out, was that Alphonse was only in the movie at the beginning before they decided he was too expensive to animate, rather than trying to do something with a practical suit actor, and Edward wore a long sleeved shirt and glove the entire movie outside of the dramatic automail reveal so they wouldn't have to CG that either. Which they appear to be addressing, and also just having a lot more incidental alchemy in general. Though i'm not sure how they're planning on covering what was like, 30 episodes of the anime in a single movie?

They crammed most of the Scar arc into the second movie which covers the events from Ling’s debut up to Ed being swallowed by Gluttony and it seems like the third one will wrap it all up (it’s likely going to be rushed as hell though)

Nope, the second movie ends on a “To be continued” right after Envy shifts into his monster form

Considering the next film is called “The Final Transmutation” I assume it’s going to be a trilogy at any rate but who knows

Oh fantastic. Can watch it guilt free then. ...tho the series is encouraging giving Brotherhood a shake which will have the same issue. Separation of art and artist I suppose.

Kurieg posted:

Yeah, but in a way that's totally watchable. Sub-par action, mild-to-ok CGI, great costumes, and overly dramatic acting/script. The sequel introduces the cavalcade of other military characters, and they're surprisingly well cast. They nail Armstrong, for example. So if you liked the show, it warrants a look imo. Just go in with low expectations and enjoy it for the bollywood-esque curiosity it is.

It’s not just about the money, though.

Like every time I’m watching it, there’s now always the lingering background thought that this was the role that springboarded him into becoming as big of a sexpest as he did because of how insanely popular both FMAs were
