Following on from my last post, I got annoyed about how over rated a lot of the wrestlers are, so I made my own custom database where people like Hogan and Luger only have 1 workrate. It's actually funny how bad this makes the game when all the main events are like * star drizzling shits because none of the main eventers in WCW can work except for Flair and Sting. And then the undercard of the WWF is that but 100x worse.

This sounds great, part of my annoyance with wrestling sim games is that there's no way to make the AI book dumb (like if you gave them an accurate WWE roster with Vince in charge, he would always book great shows instead of brainrot nonsense like what actually happened) and that's a good way to deter some of that.

Im sure this has been asked before but is there a mod for Wrestling Empire that stops those 10 minute long submission animations? It sucks being caught in a hold and just sitting there for 2 minutes watching nothing happen.

It definitely has some N64 callbacks with the blocking style and just the general camera setup and everything and the models look good enough for me. I never needed hyper-realism in a game, just something that was easy to pick up and fun to play. Hopefully this checks those off as well.

They've mentioned that it's already looking better from the development footage, but the main thing that excites me is SIMPLE game controls. A couple attack buttons, a grapple button, then point in a direction and hit a button to do different grapple moves. It really does feel like an N64 game in that anyone can pick up a controller and learn to play in minutes. Some of the stuff looks a little funny, like the character models on the versus screen, but I'm sure that'll be improved as we get closer to release time. Edit: lol, game has a "holy poo poo" chant which is pretty funny

I noticed on the entranced clip that the chyron included the W/L record (both were at 0-0) and I really hope the game will keep track of that, even in exhibition mode. It’s a little thing but would add so much more stakes if you have two undefeated wreslters competing.

Honestly, a modernized AKI N64 wrestling game is all I was really hoping for and oh boy did this preview scratch that itch: Lots of nostalgia bundled with lots of cool new additions and bells-and-whistles. I'm also really happy they went with stylized characters instead of those weird uncanny valley scanned ones that are so hit-and-miss on the modern WWE games. I've changed my opinion from "I hope this doesn't suck" to "cautiously optimistic".
