New dungeon is good! Haven’t done the trial yet. But the new dungeon is lots of fun, not too difficult but has some neat mechanics.

And I like we’re now doing an extended callback to FFIV.

It seems like there's a bug where if you're on the island before the start of the weather needed for the spawn then it doesn't update the weather flag properly. People recommend completely vacating the island at least five or more real world minutes before a rare spawn to give time for your instance of it to reset, then traveling to it five Eorzea minutes after the spawn window starts.

Huh, really? Beachcomber popped for me fine.

The bug seems to specifically affect spawns where the weather change happens before the spawn window starts, the current examples are the Goobbue, the Alligator, and Twinklefleece.

I spent a few hours earlier today running through ARR New Game+ Part 6 just so I could try out the new Steps of Faith solo duty. I even recorded it! Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQoAFERQHpU&t=110s

If you're interested, I also broke down the major changes they made to Snowcloak and Keeper of the Lake in the spoiler thread, going into changes made and how the devs have made an effort to introduce new players to more modern fight mechanics as they redesign old content. Long story short, I think they've all come out great, but particularly the final boss of Keeper knocks it out of the park.

Of course, you could also just... queue in to the dungeons and check it out yourself. Whatever floats your boat. Even with duty support the dungeons go by pretty fast.

That explains it! I did Keeper of the Lake for the first time today and was trying to target the Einhander cylinders and early Middy "adds" based on the PlayFrame LP, wondering why it didn't work.

I had to release my rare human-faced monkey from my island pasture. It was frankly upsetting to look at. The whole outpost felt unwholesome just knowing it was always around. Lurking. Its piercing blue eyes, unnatural large size, and mouth always agape... Just, egh. gently caress that thing.

"gently caress this thing." -Chunni Harlow

I neglected to screenshot the heroic moment I told my rare monkey to gently caress off, so I captured a second one just to berate it for the above re-creation. Human-Face Monkey Jr is still in the pen, but as soon as it fills up again... gone-zo!

Well, The Rising is... a thing that exists. Seems they're using it as a testbed for future escort mechanics (Unless they've repurposed a mechanic from some expansion I haven't seen yet), seems to work okay. Rolled my eyes at Yoshida showing up, then actually got a little misty at the Minstrel basically restating the same sentiment as Yoshida did.

Bought 99 of everything, should probably buy more meteors to drop on obvious ERPers and people playing dead in the middle of the street.

The Escort mechanics are a new thing that were added with Endwalker! They've been backporting them into seasonal quests here and there since expansion launch, though.

Yeah, that's kinda how the Rising is. It's both in-universe an event to commemorate recovering from the Calamity, and an out-of-universe celebration of the game managing to survive the disaster that was 1.0 and becoming the success it is. They're always tied together by Yoshi-P's actual self-insert, the Wandering Minstrel.

The annual events in the year surrounding an expansion release tend to be pretty small; as mentioned, this is just backporting an Endwalker-era quest mechanic in for people who haven't used it yet. Sometimes they've gotten pretty elaborate, though, either in doing extra story stuff with characters you've met, or introducing new minigames. My favorite was the Cheap Dungeon: the Rising after they'd introduced one of the deep dungeons, the event was to go through a Wizardry-style first-person dungeon crawl, filled with developer messages about them scraping it together at the last minute and hoping the players will like it anyway.

The Rising event has generally been a way for yoship to directly say "thanks for playing our game" to the players. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Also this year you get a tiny ratman as part of the deal.

They increased the number of plates to 20 fairly recently, so I doubt it.

My guess is that 800/20 will be the max until they reorganize the system completely. I'm still praying for a serverside revamp in 7.0 that'll help to resolve most of the database issues that've been plaguing them since ARR and make adding stuff like a Glamor Catalogue viable.

There's a Dalamud plugin called Glamaholic that might help you. I haven't used it but I understand it allows you to save essentially infinite plates in an offline collection and switch them into your in game 1-20 slots as desired. Therefore you should be able to export your current plates and import them again in the numbers you want to sort by job.

Nice Daria boots up thread btw.

Note that if your plates are the sort where you applied dye to the plate instead of the item in the chest, you'll lose the dye and have to reapply. This is largely why I started doing on-item dyes for my pricier stuff, especially looks I was not doing 100% of the time and putting in Glamaholic cold storage.

This is why I wanted to have a way to move my plates. I could just redo them so they're in order, but having to get all the dyes again and re applying them is a paaaaiiiin.

That was the first Rising during Shadowbringers, I believe. The set-up was that instead of going to the actual Rising festivities you volunteer to clean up the beach after Moonfire Faire.

It was also the first seasonal event that had extra content the further you were in the story.
