Shirley       I would guess that this chapter's origin is "Mori bought a book about early 1900s shoes". And another recap intro! This and the next chapter were published in 2014, while the previous two were from 2013, so not as big a gap this time.

   First of all, Hbar made this meme/fanart and it rules. HBar posted:Hahaha, I love that gill smoke. Second of all, with this weeks of comic over (I try to do five a week, anything more then that is a bonus because I had extra energy,) I wanted to check in for an actual pointed reason. What did you think of the AI backgrounds this week. All comics post below were made from AI trained on my art using textual inversion, and then using 3D renders, I used img2img with Stable Diffusion to style transfer them into art styles. I had a real hard time finding something with thick outlines, and I'm still dialing it in. Did this hurt your enjoyment of the comic at all? Did you like the more intricate backgrounds? Did you even notice a change? Are there moral sticking points with this for you? I want to know your opinion on using AI for backgrounds, and specifically how it looks in my comic. I'm probably going to keep futzing with this for a while, but I do care a little bit about being popular and don't want to turn everyone off if it's not working. Now that you've been told, here's the 5 comics done with AI!

The ai backgrounds look great and very much help tie things together. I have as many moral problems with it as I have with someone using the fill tool instead of coloring every pixel manually ie. none.
