I really don't understand who promotions with a long list of things wrestlers can't do are supposed to be for. They keep making them and they keep being boring and convoluted.

Old timers have convinced some people that strict rules were the secret to getting a lot of heat for little amounts of effort. They think that Tex Gunderson almost caused a riot in 1972 with a single closed fisted punch and not because they were performing in front of a crowd of drunk rednecks in a town with nothing else to do on a Thursday night.

I've always assumed that's the thinking but even then you end up with promotions like this where it's like "Any brawling on the outside is three red cards and then an ejection" so I don't even know what old timey wrestling they were watching.

It worked when wrestling was mostly local promotions where you were only familiar with the rules and the work at the show you go to, so seeing a dude do something that you wouldn’t usually see and break them was a big deal.

It doesn’t work now that anyone can watch wrestling from all over the world including matches where dudes carve each other up with light tubes and boards of knives being completely kosher.

Nobody is going to pop for a closed fist after seeing that poo poo.

It's pretty bad but it's still really hard to top Byron Saxton's. It's like he told his opponents "I have no idea what the move actually is, just sell it no matter what I do."

Come King of Indies in November someone is going to get their head kicked in as Katsuhiko Nakajima, man who doesn't always remember that it's a work, is coming to America. So is Naomichi Marufuji.

This is Nakajima's 1st US date since 13th November 2009 where he faced Kenny Omega for ROH (there was a match in Canada the following night vs El Generico)

Danger Ehren of “Jackass” fame was announced today for the upcoming Prestige show in Portland next month.

Ran into him tonight at a Murder By Death show and chatted him up a bit and uh

I’m wondering what the actual gently caress Will was thinking when he booked the guy.

Ehren said the only wrestling he’s familiar with is WWE, has no clue what kind of match he’s gonna do other than “uh maybe blood stuff?” and asked me what I should expect him to do. He then said if someone did make him bleed that he’d beat the other worker up.

Ehren also assumed that I’m a wrestler because I’ve been to Prestige shows.

So yeah um how often are random celebrities brought in for shows and how well does that usually work out?

I was just listening to the GCW podcast and Alex Colon mentioned how the most dangerous thing in deathmatch style is people who don't know what they are doing. Besides the chief concern of injury and death, it also sucks because someone who doesn't know what they're doing can accidentally force their opponent to flip the script or break kayfabe to avoid serious injury or death.

dude seemed a bit nervous but seemed slightly less anxious when I mentioned that he wasn’t in danger of having his crank chomped off by a bear.

I’m sure having 7 weeks to talk back and forth with Will is gonna help a lot but I made it pretty clear that he *needs* to get that communication in and prepare long beforehand.

Murder By Death is still a thing?? They were a monthly feature in Bloomington’s basement show circuits.

As for random celebs, Darren McCarty has been using ICW to advertise his strains so as long as there is money to be made poo poo works.
