I remember reading an edition of tezuka's "the greatest robot in the world" to prepare for reading the fantastic "Pluto" by Urasawa and there was a quote on the back from Tezuka talking about how he had Astro boy's sister shirtless or something like that because he thought it was necessary to have a kind of eroticism for children

As i understand it Quidditch has the golden snitch which is independent of all of the other rules and players and when caught means instant victory. Cool game

Cool game Nah it just gives you the equivalent of 15 goals. But it's ok because it can take months to catch it sometimes. Quidditch is clearly meant to take the piss out of sports and it's hilarious that there's people who actually play it irl minus the flying (and that even them want to cut ties with JK how can you ruin your brand so much in terms of public perfection).

Like the golden snitch clearly only exists as a way for the children's book protagonist to make a big dramatic game-winning play in one scene and then never show up again. She didn't carefully consider its impact on the dynamics of the game or whatever, she just wanted to write Harry winning big and added in a mechanism for that to happen. The same thing happens in a lot of cheesy YA books, where the 16 year old protagonist will discover "woah, turns out the secret to finding the ancient treasure that the whole country has been looking for for 3000 years was holding the map upside down, good thing i'm the first one to think of that!"
