That's actually a kind of honesty. Like yeah if you set the criteria at "I, a decently off person benefit from capitalism. Give me a real world example of a better system for me, a minor capitalist to thrive in" capitalism is kinda cool Oh no the world will be an uninhabitable hellscape in 3 generations tops? Well I get funny cakes

Sometimes it's an attitude as simple as "gently caress you, got mine". Why strive for something better when you've already lucked out into having all you (presently) need? And when he see his children struggle, he's going to think that his generation was just better and more hardworking and not because the unsustainable system is on a downward spiral

Blockade posted:i was briefly a consultant and a lot of it was convincing businesses they need to do inventory and keep track of work hours This is the best consulting. Paying a bunch of money to someone from outside to tell management what the rest of the company has been screaming at them for years, and which is painfully obvious.

We had a bunch of consultants come in over the years, but none of them came up with the true solution I (and our biggest customer*) had been talking about for literally more than a decade: get rid of the manager. Then he died and we haven't needed consultants. *) Their exact words were: "That fatso is not coming to the meetings."

Getting rid of at least part of existing management is the solution over 90% of the time but it’s management that hires consultants sooooo

Unsurprisingly it lasted only a few years. For reference, I remember hearing my boss have to explain to the client over the phone what an "impulse purchase" is and why he should have an idea on what does and doesn't sell at this point.

My job (like, the three salaried people) has sensed our (the hourlies) disgruntlement and maybe caught wind we're trying to organize. What did they do? Give us a raise? A placating bonus? No, they mega pizza-partied us and threw an "Employee Appreciation Fair," with a dunk tank and face painting or some poo poo.

3.5x is straight up the law here in Ireland. To buy an apartment in a city you need to be earning over 70K. But don't worry. If you can't afford that you can simply rent! (For more than double what the mortage would cost per month lmao good luck saving)
