one of the coolest playthroughs of any Pokémon game I ever had was BDSP where I got to raise a Jirachi and Manaphy from level 5 from very early on in the game, it felt special simply because of their mythical status and the fact you never get them until well into postgame and they're already at least level 50 I was hoping to use the recent giveaway Victini for my nuzlocke but it came in at 50 and I’m already dedicated to my current roster

It's better than being locked to just the 4 outfits assuming that you can't mix and match the tops and bottoms but yeah it does suck with how regressive this feels. Hopefully, only showcasing the PCs in the school uniforms is just because of their highlighting the new school aspect of the game and that there is more comprehensive customization further along in the game or, Arceus forbid, available as DLC. Otherwise, it would feel like a significant step back for a mainline game.

When they’ve shown the multiplayer off wasn’t everyone wearing different outfits? They all seemed pretty different from what I recall.

It does evolve super late because :genV: I do hope we go back to having some non-dragon pseudos. It's kinda weird we got T-tar and Metagross early on then just straight Dragons since then. Shorts, long sleeve, jacket, puffy vest, in orange or blue varieties depending on your version. So really it's just four outfits you can't even change the color of except by which version you buy. For instance the jacket is gray in Scarlet and black with a weird pattern in Violet. It's the worst! I feel like a lot of people can't really imagine that they've dropped the ball this bad on character customization after proving that they knew what they were doing for three generations, but they really have. And for the record, I think the game otherwise looks like it will be really good! But I do not think player customization is a minor feature. At least in the way I appreciate pokemon it has become a fundamental part of the experience that appears to be incredibly poorly implemented this generation.

For what it's worth, I was considering Cilan to be the "bright green" Gym Leader, but I didn't even realize he had the least green of the gym leaders (barring iterations of Erika. For the above image I chose her greenest outfit.) Hell, he has less green than the new gym leader too. Looking at the official artwork, Milo's brighter green in it than I remember him being in game, but yeah, none of these characters are obnoxiously green to me, or really that significantly different from Brassius imo, other than Ramos I guess but his outfit is so simple it doesn't really stand out to me. I guess I am giving Milo a bit of a pass since Galar's gym league requires him to be a little over the top grassy.

the human characters, both the NPCs and the PCs, all look really bad. the drawn art for all of them is good or even great but the in-game models are just really unpleasant. customization would at least help mask that for the PC but lol.
