Or not remaking. At this point the thread is pretty played out. It was laughing at weird fetish games and then asset flips and below minimal quality items that Steam's various issues inundate the platform with. The thread really doesn't see many posts beyond joking at a new porn game every so often and discussing legitimately terrible awful games that are just games that are bad isn't really viable either. Even the occasional "wow look at this thing someone out there jacks it to" posts aren't really funny anymore.

I just think people are overcorrecting a little bit - there's only one person I can remember doing any horny posting in this thread, and they're perma'ed. I'd rather the thread overcorrect than become anything like the DA thread I know I can trust myself but it has been shown on the forums time and again that without stringent moderation, there are plenty of other users who can't be trusted to not make it weird. A lot were perma'd from the DA thread but some of those perma'd were posters in here too so this thread was already attracting those types. As nice as it'd be for this thread to get by on self-policing, I just don't have any faith in that happening. It's easier to cut a cancerous tumor out before it metastasizes. Plus VG has already made it clear that this is now a porn-game-free thread. I think the past couple of pages have shown that it is still entirely possible to have a thread dedicated to dredging the depths of the steam catalogue without risking it turning into a place for posting hardcore porn games.

The thing about porn games is how funny they are depends on how many times you've already seen other porn games. Like after seeing variants of games with names like "dickgirl elf cafe" get posted like 40 times it sort of loses its shock value. There's probably a commentary to be made here about how this sort of desensitization is what contributes to people developing fetishes in general but I don't really want to dive into those weeds. I think that ultimately something that is baffling is a lot more entertaining than something that is shocking. Weird porn is explicable, it might not be to your taste but you can at least understand who it is for. Stuff like Kati the Astronaut is just so much more interesting because it's clearly the work of someone with a mind that works very differently than anyone else's.

Yeah, like for a lot of these games, once you get past what it's about, it's just "oh, it's a bog-standard match-3 game" or "oh it's a visual novel" or what have you. If you take Tetris and replace the pieces with girls in various positions and your prize for clearing a lot of lines is anime titties, it's still just Tetris.
