I love the diesel, so reliable, it's got a turbo so it feels pretty lively despite being a small 1.4L and the mileage is good. I get around 4.5 - 5 liters / 100km now during summer doing a 30km one way commute on country roads, mostly keep 100kph most of the trip. Thats 47 - 55 mpg. In winter they lower the speed limit to 80kph and I notice it has an effect on my mileage. I then average around 4 - 4.5 or 52 - 59 mpg despite the worse winter weather and having studded tires.

MetaJew posted:I've never heard about this but based on these replies it sounds like it was a "scandal"? No, the oil pressure just changes a lot on some engines, rotaries in particular since they spin from 750 RPM up to 8,000, and that bothers some people who don't understand what is happening. Woolwich Bagnet posted:Oil pressure gauges move all over the place which is scary for people because they expect it to act like the coolant 'gauge' where it never moves after getting up to temp unless something is wrong. My car has an actual oil pressure gauge and it moves around a decent amount depending on engine load. Exactly. Ford went so far as to make the oil pressure gauge on Crown Vics function literally like an idiot light. The sender is an idiot light sender, an the gauge has a resistor that causes it to show half-gauge when the sender is closed, zero when open. That's it. A lot of car users (you know, not "drivers") don't want information about what the car is doing. They don't even want to know when it's actively breaking, but that's what they are getting with idiot lights and CELs.

OneSizeFitsAll posted:The V8 Vantage is reasonably agile and no slouch at all in the corners but the 718 definitely feels lighter and sharper. The chassis is incredible, and from my brief experience (and albeit I'm no elite driver) deserves all the plaudits it has received. This comparison is with traction control on for both cars, for what that's worth. That's a fantastic color. I was really pleasantly surprised by both the chassis/suspension and the engine/power on the base 718 Boxster I rented earlier in the year. Was driving it along the northern California coast. Tight and twisty roads that weren't always in the best conditions. More than fast enough for the conditions and enough power to pass with some authority. Except for the exhaust/engine sound, I thought it was all around better than my Porsche 996. Which has aftermarket exhaust. So, not a fair comparison in that regard.

In the recent past when I have driven I've pointed out all the error messages popping up on the dash and he has never listened to me. Today it failed on ten points of inspection. They're literally listed right there, you can scroll through them right in front of your face. Car still runs fine but poo poo's borked. His response? "There's no check engine light...?!" It's not just your average driver, even collectors can be morons.

My car dash has a "gauges" section with the oddest choices: oil temperature, boost (seems like it's fake, doesn't go to negative or really bounce around a ton? not sure) and "torque" (no idea how accurate it is or what it's even actually observing, might just be following a precalculated RPM/gear curve?). Anyways I can't have both those and the digital speed readout visible so I ignore them.

iPhone. I finally upgraded from my X (handed down to my son) and got a 13. I was a huge DSLR nut for over a decade, but stopped carrying one years ago. It's amazing what you can do with just a phone now.

Oh yeah, I have 13 Pro Max and it owns a lot. I'm not a great photographer though. Is that all down to exposure or was there post processing involved?

It's all exposure. Hand held. No post processing (lightroom/ect). I might take my Canon gear next time for comparison.

I did - if you find an app worth checking out let me know. I really dislike how the controls hide themselves after x time/actions.

Altezza I bought about a year ago. I have since fit a turbo to it but it needs to be tuned. Factory 3sge BEAMS with coilovers, strut braces and terrible corolla wheels. I have ordered wheels and FK512s that will fill the gap out better. The chassis is great, I believe it has more welds than the is300 and is lightened somewhat. Also factory LSD and 6 speed j160 (which is the next thing I am looking at upgrading) Edit: I have done a few other little things too like stuck a riser under the front plate so it sits better, reupholstered a factory seat to replace the tiny recaro that it came with (suitable for a tiny Japanese person with child hips) lilbeefer fucked around with this message at 17:46 on Sep 8, 2022 |
