I was in the garage finishing up a liquor cabinet in making and came back in for the last four minutes. I was shocked when I saw the score, took me a minute to really believe it. Let’s play them all in a downpour.

Can you really rely on two rookies to upgrade the secondary?" and then the first game of the season is like...the epitome of 21st century Chicago Bears football. There is no escape

I mean the lions fans spent all off season hyping up their D….so that doesn’t seem good

I mean, that was a really good game if you had remotely realistic expectations for the Lions this year.

CharlestheHammer posted:I mean the lions fans spent all off season hyping up their D….so that doesn’t seem good I'm not sure what thread you were reading since pretty much everyone recognized there were huge questions/concerns at linebacker and in the secondary. The main takeaway of the game for me is that this team can compete, but they still have some major issues to work out. This game could have been an entirely different story if the Lions had made anything of their three offensive possessions after that initial score - but they didn't, they let the Eagles get ahead, and spent the entire rest of the game playing catch-up. So, yeah. Not mad, but certainly disappointed.

If I wanted to build on some positives. Okudah looked really good. Rodrigo looks legit. They had big issues with contain on Hurts. Goff was bad in the first half and they had 6 drops including St. Brown's first two of his career, but Swift ran all over the Eagles. The OL was really good and they put up a ton of points.

Hopefully this won’t be a complete repeat of last season’s packers opener. But it’s looking grim. At least the defense is looking competent.

I wouldn’t judge a player based on one play. He may drop a lot of passes in the long run but we won’t know that for a while yet

Please just be good or be bad, man. I think he'd take being bad then. By year's end we'll say that Goff is the ceiling for the offense and we'll be ready for another QB.
