I do appreciate how natural the flow of events is in this game. Sophia has been trampled by the nobility all her life, both literally and figuratively. It hardens her, and she becomes the firebrand revolutionary. I originally didn’t understand how we could choose to remain a commoner in-character, so the game provides a catalyst which encourages extreme emotion wrought decision making. It’s a very good read.

Update on the last page. Also, in terms of stats, I'm gonna try to build up our Manipulation, because it's our lowest useful one.

Let’s make some more magical oaths that will gently caress things up when they inevitably conflict with each other! Take the ring!

1.14 - Recruitment Drive Another magical oath? Sign us the gently caress up! This is nice, though. Spending time with friends is good. Hope this never puts us into a position of divided loyalties. Time to let the folks at home know what's up. This conversations had to happen sooner or later. gently caress you too, Stephan. Sounds about right. Thanks, Gloria, we will dedicate the first noble we shoot to you. Entirely expected results. Anyway, time to get to... work? Life's gonna be a bit different now. Let's go see where we'll be living. Thanks for helping us find a place to squat, Sophia. It's not much, but at least we're surrounded by comrades. For now, we're focusing on finding more Lotless. Let's see what our fearless leader has to say. We have our first assignment. We gotta get more people in on this. There are a few options here. But the most effective one is to give a few speeches here and there. Time to organize some agitprop. And remember - no one gets caught. Things get hot, hit the bricks. Straightforward plan, with escape routes. Not bad, not bad at all. Senpai noticed us! As we turn 18, the power struggle in the capital continues. Gotta love show trials. That's a familiar slogan. And they didn't even call for the overthrow of the government. The empire reasserts itself. We continue to get more people on our side. The question is, what for? Finally! I mean, we're down with helping witches, but it seems like not everyone is. Did some of the Lotless not know that Sophia is a witch? Oh well, good riddance. Time for some specifics. That's a lot of focus on Patriarch Junius. And what's our part in this? Yeah, those guys don't gently caress around. Alright, a final push for recruits. -- What do we do before the March? A. The Lotless are a lower estate organization, they're our greatest strength. Mobilize the commoners. B. Perhaps a greater cross-section of society would lend legitimacy to the March? Find disgruntled nobles and priests. C. We have enough people. Sophia, however, looks like she's about to pass out from exhaustion. SHe could use a friend right now. Spend time with Sophia.

1.5 - The March We're gonna unwind and hang out with Sophia for a bit. She's very right in this case. Sophia does show up in the Nobleman Path, and it's not pretty. The world has been cruel to her, but we haven't. Is she into us? Hard to tell. Predictably, Sophia enjoyed having a moment of rest. As did we. It's never outright stated how long Arknians live for, to my knowledge, so that kid might be waiting a while. Imagine waiting until old age to take the throne, drat. The head honcho himself. Oh hey, it's that rear end in a top hat. And there's the reason for the celebration. I think this is the first time we see Gaius. At the moment, he's the... chancellor, I think. He remains important throughout the rest of the game, though obviously we'd interact with him more if we'd gone for the noble path. It appears the Arknian nobility isn't united in this. What a surprise. Sure, yeah, long live whoever. "Whilst the ten thousand bayonets are bristling around, and poor Independence lies low in his cave, the small voice of conscience may seldom be heard." - Queries Connected with Christianity by Cincinnatus Caledonius (John Gordon Barbour), 1824 Even though the family no longer financially supports us, we remain in touch. What does Stephan do, actually? Father works as a judge, but Stephan just... chills, I guess? I mean besides being a dick to Gloria. What talents, Mother? The only thing we're good at is stabbing people from a variety of vantage points. That's not good. loving Stephan. Unfortunately, our absence does not help with our familial ties. Alright, it's time, this is what we worked for. Our very first protest. As expected, the Legion is here, rather than the constabulary. Hang on, what? This wasn't the plan! Oh poo poo. Sophia, what the gently caress are you doing? God drat it, this wasn't the plan! -- It all went tits up. What do we do? A. It's too late to do anything now. We've got numbers on our side, crush the legionnaires! B. This isn't helping! We gotta talk Sophia down. C. There's no time to deal with the crowd. If no one else does it, we'll just have to rescue the mages ourselves.

C lets rack up some favor n stats also, hmm, not a huge fan of all this magik mental fuckery. Between this and the whole "home province forever scoured by flame magiks", maybe the inquisition has some decent points to be made on mages?

B we racked up that relationship with Sophia for a moment like this. She’s sending a mostly unarmed crowd to be martyrs against the legion’s swords.
|
# ? Sep 13, 2022 15:02 |
Talk her down, this is the kind of crap that easily justifies marching troops unto the province and squashing the uprising. There's something to be said about mages and elites but we'll wait to see more of the story.

It's a hard choice, even moreso with the stat outcomes visible. I think we're probably best off stopping Sophia. The blood of many innocents on our hands isn't what this movement needs. Hopefully this show of force is enough to intimidate and we won't need to go any further.

B It's just bad tactics to throw a bunch of unarmed commoners at professional soldiers. Purely pragmatically we're wasting way too much blood here for way too little gain, if we want to start poo poo with the army we need something heavier than improvised clubs and homespun tunics.

C. Whether this is intentional on her part, or she's being possessed or something, Sophia clearly trusts us to act when she can't. Also, y'know, it's unlocked by our good scheming stat so I'm hoping that's good.
