They premiered it at the Toronto film fest last week but it’s not really out until November 4 on the Roku channel whatever that is.

Like with most Showtime shows that end up being good, Nurse Jackie was only good for a couple of seasons before turning south. Merritt Weaver was amazing in it though, and deserved that Emmy win. The show also featured a young Arjun Gupta who went on to star on the wonderful The Magicians, which is still streaming on Netflix for anyone who hasn't seen it yet and needs a reminder.

Just keep in mind, the show starts rough as it was only loosely adapting the books, and struggled to find its voice and tone. It all started to come together in season 2, and season 3 was one of the most wonderful and enjoyable seasons in television. It's thoroughly camp, and once they realized that, that's when things started to get good.

13, 42 minute episodes, so more like 9 hours. And it season 1 wasn't necessarily bad, but it was just generic.

Oats Studios on Netflix was a pretty interesting watch. A bunch of short stories(films?) mostly sci-fi related. There were a couple very good ones that I hoped that can get fleshed out in the future, not sure if that will happen cause it seemed like the whole thing is more of a showcase or demo.

Regardless it's good stuff and in nice little 10-20 minute chunks.

It's probably the most interesting anthology series of the past decade, but the writing in most of the ones I watched is just college student film level bad. It's a shame, because some of them have serious potential. Even with the writing, if some of them went on to be a weekly SyFy series I'd (somewhat reluctantly) watch them.

Yeah, even the good ones tended to overplay their hands just by overexpositing or just going on too long, and the bad ones were outright insipid. Still, it was pretty interesting despite being uneven, and I wouldn't mind seeing more like it.

It will start to become more clear. Don't read if you don't want to know. There are 3 personalities controlling one body.

Overall, I think the MCU tv shows have ranged from just okay (Falcon and the Winter Soldier) to spectacular (Wandavision). I haven't disliked any of them overall, although I have disliked parts of most of them. I thought Moon Knight fell in the middle. What I liked, Oscar Isaac, the action scenes intercut by blackouts. What I didn't like, Ethan Hawke, the giant avatar battles that felt weightless, the failure to tie in Gorr the God Killer given that this show is all about gods.

I really enjoyed the first few episodes of rings of power. I'm not a fan of the original movies at all, and very recently (like in the past month) re-read the books and they're sooooo much worse than I remember. So I went into the show with no expectations and just as big dumb fantasy it's great, the spectacle is really fun.

Watched most of Netflix new show the imperfects last night and it feels hilariously low budget. The effects, acting, and writing all feel so like a kids Saturday morning show.

Yeah I feel that, the writing and dialogue are definitely the weakest part of the whole thing. But there are some outstanding concepts and creature design which I think was kinda the purpose.

I'm watching Cyberpunk Edgerunners on Netflix, based on the controversial game Cyberpunk 2077. I watch very little anime. I played through all of Cyberpunk 2077, and played it on PC so I didn't experience most of the bugs that console players experienced, but I enjoyed the game, and the world that they built. Edgerunners does a great job of capturing the best parts of the game. I know the game developers had much bigger plans for the game in terms of expansions, but they had to shift their focus to fixing the base game, so what they've announced for the future is very limited. This show seems like a great alternate though. Maybe they'll revisit the franchise with better planning in the future.

Also enjoying that the theme song is by Franz Ferdinand!

It’s hard to pin down because it’s truly terrible but I would not say it loops back around into being good because of that. But it’s also aggressively entertaining and hard to stop watching. I feel dumber after watching it. It has the drama, comedy and writing quality of a show aimed at children.

I feel bad for Margaret Atwood because even by like, the first season or two she could see the show was missing the point. I didn't get very far in it, but like, it's not supposed to be something you take as an analogy for lukewarm liberal resistance lol. The WORST CASE SCENARIO HAS ALREADY HAPPENED is the premise of the loving world. Then it just keeps going and going and going, and from what I saw she like, rescues like 40 people thru the woods and does all kinds of crazy stupid bullshit?.
It really was best-served as just like, a ten episode limited series.

Is season 3 the one where she has the chance to leave but decides to stay? That's where I ducked out, but I was tapped out before that. I just remember that whole season being trash even though I don't remember s single thing that happened in it except the ending.

Great first season, but yeah it started to get bad pretty quick.

Yeah season 1 and 2 are very dumb but in a way that is mostly endearing I guess. Beyond that it's just so bad.
