So something small but cool has happened: that crashed B-24 in Gander Lake has been found. It's at aprox. 150 ft. There are no pictures of the entire wreck (NL freshwater for reasons picks up a lot of tannin when draining thanks to the many many bogs, and so has a particular tea color) but it is well preserved in some ways. Had a bat strike landing at home base last week. Last month I found a bloody smear on the radome that I couldn't identify, so apparently I'm a repeat bat-killer. I'm thinking about having my crew chief paint bat-related mission symbols on the nose if I make Ace (three more).

^^^ Have you considered adding some kind of warning sound like the EVs have to scare them away? Really easy to forget that planes have been a thing since way before we could navigate accurately with a $100 device in our pocket

I believe most of the "nuclear war" planes still have sextant ports. I think the eyebrow windows on the 717s are intended to allow someone to take celestial observations.

Now I know for some people ITT, they will remember people thinking propellers on aircraft were primitive and low-class. I'm sure everybody reading these words knows the essentially silliness of such an attitude: unless you were in the 1950s and '60s when old airliners were DC-3s and new ones were jet powered, all that poo poo is turbines. It's like people who let their cars idle "not to waste gas" not realizing their car has had fuel injection for 30-40 years now, depending. Anyway, found a weird example of the former attitude still in action: Overdue Props? The Old-School Turboprop Jet Is Enjoying a Luxe Transformation quote:While initially aimed at the commercial market, the Next Generation remains a good example of how the new breed of turboprop is differentiating itself from the stodgy, ultrapractical blade-spinners of old. This new guard is quickly becoming known as luxe and tech-savvy aircraft that can fill the roles of small- to mid-sized jets.
