caught BARBARIAN in theaters today, went in blind on a rec and would strongly encourage others to do the same! fun and well made horror flick. turns out it was #1 at the box office this weekend at around $10 million, was nice to see that after

no, bridget was raised to present as a woman because of a superstition that twin boys would cause a calamity in their home village, and her parents lied to outsiders and said she was a girl to prevent her from being exiled/killed. her initial plot in XX was trying to get a huge bounty to prove to her village that the twin superstition was wrong, which she succeeded at, but as of strive she’s come to realize that even though she can live freely as a man she actually is more comfortable identifying as a woman. it’s not “grooming” because A) there was nothing sexual about it and B) her parents never lied to her about her biological sex, just had her present as a woman for her own safety.

I've learend that if I've ever heard a foreign director's name, like if I hear it and I can go "yah that guy sounds familiar, he's a director of movies, right?" their films always own. you don't just hear about some random foreigner unless they've really proven themselves on the world stage, in any discipline you think "it can't be that good, its just some movie nerds wanking off to pretentious stuff" you're always guaranteed to be wrong except Titane which sucked balls
