Obscure to all except those well-versed in Yuuzhan Vong lore.

Every single Bucs injury last year ended up being worse than the initial assessment so great.

Even though the Saints won, I'm mad about that 2nd 2-pt conversion where we ran a direct snap to Mark Ingram instead of the Taysom Hill Power Play that had gotten at least 7 yards every time they did it all day.

If the saints convert that, they lose the game because then the defense lets the falcons get into fg range. Instead, the saints failed and relied on the falcons choking away the win - a much safer gamble.

Are there no limits on how many seasons a player can be in the league and get signed to a practice squad anymore?

I think they changed the rules recently.

From https://www.thephinsider.com/2022/8/30/23329403/nfl-practice-squad-rules-size-limits-eligibility-salary-elevation-2022

Eligibility
The league in 2020 also adjusted the rules for who can be on the practice squad. Those adjustments saw some updates this year. The practice squad may have:

Players with no NFL experience (zero accrued seasons)
Players who were active for fewer than nine games during their only accrued season
Up to ten players may have no more than two accrued seasons
Up to six players may be signed without any limitation on earned seasons
-Note: The limit of 10 players with more than two accrued seasons includes the six players with no limits on the number of accrued seasons.

I know line play is black sorcery that I’ll never fully understand, but I still can’t wrap my head around how an o lineman can be fantastic at pass block and then dismal at the run block, or vice versa. Know there’s different skills involved but that drastic of ones? I mean obviously but

Got it.

So 16 players meeting the limits below.

6 players with no experience limits
4 more with 0-2 accrued seasons
6 more with either 0 accrued seasons or 1 season of 0-8 games active.

I think the biggest difference is when you're pass blocking you're moving backwards and when you're run blocking you plow forward. Two pretty different skills if you think about it.

Forget Xs and Os. There is really no logical reason why the Bucs shouldn’t be comfortable favorites to win but it’s the Saints so they’ll be lucky to without at least losing someone important to some terrible injury.

I met a Saints fan last weekend who had a new hot take for me:

Drew Brees deprived the Saints of Tom Brady and Sean Payton by playing his last season. If he had retired the year before, Brady would have come to New Orleans and Payton would have kept coaching to keep coaching Brady.

Apparently Evans and Gage are probably good to go from what I read but we'll see.
