it's just a grift lol

abilify cost something in the neighborhood of $900/mo last i saw but those patents expire and when generics start coming out the pharma compianies need gimmicks to jack up the price and re-sell the same old pills at even higher prices

like extended release bullshit that only barely technically works as-designed under controlled conditions in a lab. pointless IoT boondoggles let them do the same thing but without even bothering to gently caress around with the chemistry.

There's a funky bit in patent law where a company can re-patent a drug and get another exclusivity-lockout just by tweaking some variables, but in general there are a number of problems with trying to compare two things that behave in physically distinct ways and determine whether they have the same effect.

In this case we're considering two pills where one disintegrates and gets absorbed immediately, and the other breaks down slowly and gets absorbed over a longer period of time. Medicine already requires a lot of guesswork taking shitloads of qualitative anecdotes and trying to convert that into quantitative data, with assumptions and hand-waving statistical models, but most of those issues are supposed to be sorted out during repeated clinical trials (which cost a lot of money+time)

There was that whole "opioid epidemic" caused in large part by something along the lines of [purdue aggressively advertising their new 12h oxycodone and insisting doctors had to consider it perfectly interchangeable with two doses of the old 6h version, when it really wasn't.]

Not all patent extenders are automatically inherently evil, but when the drug company takes shortcuts it sometimes leads to incidents like the bupropion300XL snafu where the FDA rubberstamped an application based on poorly-extrapolated statistics. And a lot of people paid extra for pills that were significantly less effective than they were supposed to be.

You couldn't grok my race car, but you dug the roadside blur.
Someone left me a voice mail with my actual name and my uncle's telling me to urgent call a dispatch center, dispatching what was never said. It's almost certainly a scam, I don't associate with my uncle financially and it's probably a debt collector if not scammer.

Pretty sure they just bought my info from a database and are doing spearphishing. Lol how our lives are about fending off more and more sophisticated scamming until they manage to get you or you miss something important because you're used to a phone just being a conduit for criminals to harrass you.
