I decided to forego The Fog steelbook, just one of those tough decisions I had to make this year with all the spooky releases. I'll probably grab the standard edition at some point in the future but for now I'm sticking with my Shout blu ray. Anyway the Casablanca cover art was revealed and I don't quite get it. Did we really need a huge shot of Bogart above a much smaller shot of Bogart/Bergman? Speaking of Tom Cruise, there is a new "superfan" collection for Top Gun coming out in December for a whopping $140 USD. Includes new steelbooks for Top Gun 1&2 and a bunch of extra crap like dog tags, beer coasters, postcards: https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=31317 I got excited initially because the press releases all said it had "six hours of bonus content", but that's mostly just what's on the existing Top Gun release and there is nothing actually new on the discs in this version. From what I read Top Gun: Maverick had something like 800 hours of footage captured to make the movie so what I reaaalllllyyyyy want is some more behind-the-scenes featurettes beyond the pathetic ~20 minutes worth that will be included on the currently announced physical releases.

Only when the 4th moon passes over the 7th sun breaking the seal on the Öltinturn and Cruise begins his ascension will we see one hour of that 800 hours of footage and if the sacrifice is made as the crest of the sun begins to break we could get a NC-17 cut of Eyes Wide Shut.

Yea I mean it looks like a pretty standard cardboard box with a few smaller cardboard boxes inside. For some reason they expect you to pay like $80 for the box and some postcards/decals/dogtags. The movies themselves if you bought them separately would only cost like $50-$60. For that price I'd at least want a nice hefty coffee table book or something.

The price is just insane. I don't own the OG and was planning to pick it up around when the TG:M ships, so if it had been $100 would I have considered it? Maybe. As it is I am already gonna splurge and get the TG:M steelbook over the combo 4k release of Top Gun 1:2. If they had added some extra bonus content or even just a frigging commentary track I'd probably be sold.

oh yeah, also, December's criterion slate has 0 UHD w o m p they did add wall-e to nov though so I guess that counts...kinda fun watching Disney and standard non-boutique 4k buyers freak out at the 50-dollar standard criterion MSRP..welcome to the bi annual get em half off waiting club friends!

I could be wrong but as far as I know the NC-17 version isn't all that different and some of the changes they made weren't cuts so much as it was them having to CGI in an object here or there to obscure someone thrusting too many times at the sex party or some dumb bullshit. I know there was some controversy as to whether or not the ultimate film was truly Kubrick's vision because of work done after he died but if there's any footage he personally had removed you'll never see it because he always had deleted footage destroyed. Yes. But I’m biased because I’d say it’s one of my favorite shows. If you like animated TV and stuff like Adventure Time, Steven Universe, etc, then this is top tier.

VS bros was it just me or did Graduation Day really suck? I thought the editing was funny at times but it just didn’t come together for me. And I liked Horror High which was maybe technically worse? I watched Frightmare the same night and had a lot more fun with that one.
