The district court enjoined the law. The fifth circuit stayed that injunction pending appeal. The SCOTUS vacated the stay, so the injunction went back into place. The fifth then today overruled the district court, reversing the injunction. The SCOTUS will get the next action on this, and they have already overruled the fifth once in this case.

They should hate being overturned, because under normal circumstances it would mean that they were wrong. More and more conservative judges don't care anymore, and just rule based on the outcome they want. And the chance a circuit court panel or even scotus does nothing to vacate the rulings has increased sharply.

They may not always be right, but they’re never wrong. Judges don’t give a gently caress unless there is discipline or something coming there way, and even then they rarely care. Federal judges are appointed for life. They don’t loving care about getting overturned.

Platteville has a BNSF line that runs parallel to HWY 85, I'm guessing that they pulled her over and she turned on a side road, and for reasons??? They stopped on a very busy railroad line? There is a little tourist trap museum on the south side of Platteville that sits between the north and southbound sides of the highway, and cops love to hide out there to bust speeders and what not. That town is exactly the back water hick town the name implies it is, so it's not terribly surprising, doesn't make it less tragic though. I would bet huge money that poor girl made the mistake of driving while Hispanic, and that was her only true crime.

I remember it being largely savory- not quite BBQ, or ketchup, or Worcestershire, but somehow kinda like all of them? Locals put it on everything, particularly rice. My 2nd tour, I was eating a lot of local food given by some Iraqi Army 1SG. We treated him with respect, like a soldier, and in turn, he always brought us chow when he fed his guys. I've been looking off and on for 5 years. Stumbles into an international market and found it, along with Iraqi Pickles, and other Iraqi treats. It really, REALLY improved my weekend, even if I did keep tearing up a bit in the store.

In 2009 Afghanistan, Wardak FOB Airborne they let the local workers run a small cafe/restaurant and they had this ketchup condiment that I remember mostly for being sweet but amazing nonetheless. I wonder if this family sauce is what it was. Is it Asian? or Middle Eastern? I might go on the hunt for it when I get back from TDY, NJ has tons of foreign super markets.
